Just sorting the last of my holiday plans. As I have an early flight I am looking for a hotel with parking for the whole trip. The list is pretty huge so any recommendations

The Hilton there is nice, but a little pricey. It's great though as the underground tunnel between the hotel and the airport takes 30 seconds to walk through and you're in departures.

Premier Inn - sleep Park Fly. I've used it, and it was chaos busy at drop off the day before our flight, but collection was all very smooth. It was a good price.

Check out the Marriott Courtyard hotel - it's the one we always use.. One night plus parking is always reasonable. Takes about 8 mins to walk to South Terminal so you can avoid their shuttle bus (provided you ain't got too much luggage). North Terminal is also easy enough as you can get the monorail from South.

Stayed at the Sofitel when me and the Mrs were off on our honeymoon, did the meet and greet parking thing as well. We also checked into our flight and checked our baggage the night before the flight so in the am we just upped, breakfast, stroll straight through security. Dead easy.

Called through for car collection when we were making our way to baggage reclaim and the car was waiting for us right next to the Sofitel hotel.

Whichever you stay at (and they are all much of a muchness) I would definitely try and check your bags in the night before. As said above, this takes so much pressure off the morning of the flight.

Worth checking the small print about transport to the hotel. Sometimes you park at the hotel, sometimes at the airport car parks. You may have additional charges for shuttle bus or taxi.
If you are just after a bed for the night, there is usually a 'mystery hotel' which is cheaper than specifying a particular one. I've done this often at both Heathrow and Gatwick and never had any issues.

We always do the Summertime Special parking at Gatwick. You park in a secure compound oppsoite the Cargo area and get the shuttle bus back to the terminal (runs both ways every 10 mins). Never a problem, and cheaper than doing the hotel thing.

Yes, but he wants the hotel because of the early flight. We normally use the long stay car parks if the flight is at a sensible time, but if it's silly early then we do the hotel parking thing - and it only works out a few quid more to get hotel+parking rather than just parking.

We do the Marriot because it's close enough to walk to terminal in just a few minutes so you're not tied to their shuttle bus. Whichever hotel you're thinking of, check out the frequency of their shuttle bus (if you need it) because some of them are not that frequent, especially if it is very early.

The Premier Inn at Gatwick (of which there are a few) use the Long Stay car parks. You pay for the room and parking at the hotel the night before and then drive to the long stay car parks, Summertime Special parking for North Terminal depending on the time of year. usually works out at around £90-£100 for a week parking, which means the night in the hotel is around 20-30 quid.

Looked at the Premier Inn option but did not want to drive the following morning. Wanted to pitch up on Friday night, have a beer, begin the holiday and not pick the car keys up for 2 weeks. Ended up on a comparison sight, parking4less.com. Really good website, all the options with prices and a detailed explanation of the transfer options and cost. Ended up taking a punt on their £100.00 mystery 4 star hotel. Ended up with The Copthorne. Transport to the airport but have to taxi back for about £10.00 which I do not mind as I can get straight off rather than hanging around for a courtesy bus.

I've stayed in the Copthorne before, it is (was) absolutely fine

We didn't use an off site car park with Premier Inn, dropped the car off in the main car park and walked about 50 yards to the terminal - couldn't have been easier.

Nor did I. The car park was next to the hotel, right next to the terminal. I left my car the day I checked in to the hotel, and my flight was the following morning.

Are you going somewhere nice?

Yep, first big holiday in a while. My dad left me a bit of money with specific instructions to go off somewhere nice and enjoy myself so 2 weeks full on holiday in Mexico. May even get some golf in
