Hello all.

I am off to Turkey for a hol in a few weeks and have scheduled a few rounds in while I am there. As I have only been playing since October, I know nothing other than rain, wind, snow and freezing temps. Accordingly, I have plenty of warm/waterproof clothing. But, what is acceptable on a course in a hot climate. I do not intend to walk round in speedo's ( )but I believe there are usually rules relating to shorts type, length, colour, and socks etc.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what is permitted?

Totally dependent upon what club you play at.

One bit if advice when playing hot climates is to readjust your distances, the ball flies further in hot weather, cant be bothered to explain in detail but expect about a 10 yards increase.

Turkey can be v hot (which presumably is why you're going)- you may wish to consider lightweight trousers rather than shorts, either that or slap on the sun block.

Last minute thought, take a brolly - instant shade?

I very hot, rent a buggy and load it with a cooler full of ice and water. Was stunned at the amount I drank during 1 round in Thailand

Usually on the continent you'll be ok in tailored shorts, polo shirt, ankle socks (or trainer liners) and proper golf shoes.

Good tip is that all distances will probably be in metres not yards. Just add about 10% to the "metrege" to get your rough distance in yards.

Wildrover has it about right. Bets 2 tips,

1 ; Wear a hat,always!

2 ; Although they are longer treat the metres as Yards
