"Homer Style" round review......

unlucky smiffy, there is nothing worse than bad greens, and ours are shite at moment.

Is it possible for greens to be so bad they can be blamed for 3 putting TEN times? Ours are far from perfect but there has to be a point when you need to look elsewhere for the reason.

First forum meet at Ascot I three putted about 6 times and actually four putted the 11th.
I'm not totally blaming the greens, I'm saying they didn't help because they were shite.
As they were at Ascot during the first forum meet
;)

Not wanting to depress you Smiffy, but I reckon I could use the leading edge of my Lob Wedge to putt with and still not 3 Putt as much as you did !!

 :D

On the bright side mate at least when you get into matches now there is a an extra shot coming your way. I've always thought you were a good match play golfer anyway (we've always had great tussles) and now you get another shot you'll be even harder to beat. Fortunately I'm lurking with intent on 12.4 so come April 10th I'll be up there with you

I never did like stableford
:D :D :D :D :D

On looking at HDID I see you were beaten into 4th last by Master Buckle and Mr Million but you managed to beat Mr Slowly, just what kind of golf club is this?

Having enjoyed Smiffy's company at Nairn last year he's no Cat 3 player, your mojo will return, no fear! :D

Do you want to buy my chipper?

:D :D

Fragger

If it's still in the bag come Friday, it's going in the pond on the 8th!!

Isn't there a bin by the 1st you can put it in to save him carrying 8 holes and you having to hide your head in shame every time he uses it?

Yeah but if I put it in the bin he can get it back..... :D

I did enjoy Nairn, despite the drizzle, and yes, I did play reasonably well round there.

I'm not making excuses, but Boars Head is not doing my golf any favours at all. 18 mats (which I hate with a passion) to tee off of, and seriously, the greens I putted on yesterday were possibly the worst greens I have putted on for years. It was a lottery.
A couple of my mates have been playing here recently...

And whilst it's no Wentworth the greens are apparantly superb and the whole course itself (condition wise) knocks Boars Head into a cocked hat.
I'm going to go and play it in a few weeks time to see what it's like and if I enjoy it will most probably join.
They offer a similar scheme to Boars Head where you pay a nominal joining fee (I think it's something like £100.00) and then pay a reduced green fee to play in comps etc. whilst maintaining your CONGU handicap.

smiffy
why dont you go back to crowborough as a county member?
shagster :D

Because it's £599.00 a year Shagster, much more than I am prepared to pay mate.
I could get back into Highwoods under the "fairways" scheme for not much more than that but it's not really worth it for the amount of time I would play one course.
I only joined Boars Head to keep my handicap active (it's certainly done that!!). I needed an up to date certificte to play in the Trilby Tour last year, and as I had just left Highwoods I had to get one in a hurry, and for £30.00 a year membership it seemed a no brainer at the time.
