Just picked up this months issue and went to the Forum pages ,surprise suprise who's photo is there , there were two Forum meets one in Scotland and one in Yorkshire why weren't they given more coverage and the photos were very poor surely better ones were sent in , while Homer was doing this for a good cause surely he could have waited till next month and did a review and left the two meets to get the exposure. While the rant continues who cares about a muni course in Sheffield that got more coverage than the 2 meets , as us in the colonies aren't going to drive 7 hours to play it are we .

Apologies rant now over

You can please some of the people some of the time..but not all the people all the time..

Anyway Steve, I thought you were on leave for over zealous modding?

Just out of curiosity, does homer have any link to the mag or the running of the forum? From the many (MANY) threads that he posts in, it appears that he's something to do with the mag...

:D

:D
He does an article for the mag yea.

The thing is, if Homer doesn't get enough in the way of contributions from those attending Forum Meets then how can he put them into the info he forwards to the GM boys.

When we had the Goswick match in Feb, there were many pics sent in, some most made it onto the GM website for a spell, only a few made it onto the pages of the mag. Most including J_Fs Oscar winning video were available via the Forum pages.

If Homer wasn't doing the job, who else would ? it seems to be a thankless task as he is always open to a bit of flak from some quarter or other.

Anyway, madandra has another wee day out planned for August so I'm sure we'll get a few pics taken and a bit of a write up about another Scottish Forum meet in due course. :)

There's nothing to stop folks posting their good pics or links to their good pics on here when a post meet writeup is made on the forum. :D

Homer specifically asked for a report that Derek agreed to write and pics were taken by both Derek and John, and we get 3 nasty paragraphs, one picture and a leaderboard.

Now if this was a meeting which Homer played at I'm sure half the page would be dedicated to the game.

Its like the GM meets, always down south leaving us jocks to do the majority travelling. And I dont take the argument that most of the guys are down south, whats to stop you's travelling like the boys did for the goswick meet?

Thankless task or not, I'm sure Homer is well compensated in some way or another from the Mike.

To clarify the situation I was asked by Mike Harris to write the report of the Longest Day Challenge and it wasn't as many of you have snidely insinuated becausae I like the look of my own face or seeing my name in the magazine.

As it happens I'm trying to feature as many forum meets as possible and even though I have regularly posted on here asking for anyone who gets together to play to send a report and pictures the only ones I tend to get covered are the big meets.

I am not employed by GM in any shape or form and only do the pages on a voluntary basis. As it happens there is a meet due for August 9th (Letham Grange I believe) and I've already been in contact with someone to arrange for pics and a write up so there is no chance of it being missed. What I will say up front is that the GM Belfry meet is the following week so whilst I will definitely be sending a piece in I can't guarantee it won't get held back a month as I'm sure GM would want to report on their organised event.

Just because I am an enthusiastic poster (I actually enjoy the debates and topics) doesn't mean I don't try and be as objective as I can. With regards to the course review, we had covered plenty of kit in the past 5-6 months and thought a course, especially a munu that offered such good value for money would make a change. I think you might be even more upset as their is another course review planned this month which is from Hampshire.

Again, I've put threads up in the review part of the forum on a number of occasions asking for contributions and can only use what I get. The answer is obvious. If you want to redress the balance and read something applicable to you please write a suitable piece and forward it to golfmonthlyforum@yahoo.co.uk

At the end of the day if you aren't happy with the fact that I was asked to cover the Longest Day despite playing in it then take it up further with Mike. If you want a Homer free zone then make sure there are enough meets with reports and pics.

I received one piece of kit at the beginning of the year to write the pages and haven't sought any further recompense since and will leave that to Mikes discretion

That is all I plan to say on the matter (unless I get directly lambasted on here where I reserve the right to reply) and hope I've made my position clear and the reasons behind what is being published

Andy,

The argument about the GM Meets always being down South doesn't wash. We had three here last year, Rosemount, The Glen and Craigielaw. So far this year, there has been the match at Goswick, the Muckhart meet and the upcoming Letham Grange meet. Who knows, we might even squeeze in another before the end of the season.

Okay, the big GM meet is in the Midlands at the Belfry, but many folks would have to travel to get to that one if they were going.

It was a very poor effort, in fact it was hardly worth the effort and I would like to see the FULL report submitted on the Muckhart day out by del. I'm sure it involved more than 60 odd words published.

While I appreciate that you aint going to please everyone I thought that you may as well of totally omitted it; after all the locus was north of London, even worse over the Scottish border.

Don't you just love a disgruntled Jock :D

Us guys down south aren't likely to drive all the way to Sheffield to play a muni either, but the whole idea of running a mag is to have a variety of stuff in it.

I've only been here a few months, but I've never seen any xenophobia in the forum pages.

If anything there are signs some people seem to be Homerphobic.

I've never had my name mentioned in the mag, I've never had a freebie. I've got no axe to grind.

So I'm not taking a serious pop at the Jocks, I'm just suggesting you show more of that famous humour you guys have.

Homer, do you have any idea how much coverage the Belfry meet is going to get in the magazine. Would be a shame if it had to take over most of the forum section.
