Been to the range tonight which has been a bit of a rarity as most of my evenings have been taken up with PLAYING (shock horror) with the odd bit of practice from 100 yards and in. However with club championship weekend approaching and a variable game at present it seemed logical.

Inevitably I struck the ball pretty well throughout the bag and was very happy. If I can just persuade Range Homer to pencil a date in his diary and appear as Playing Homer by 9.30 on Saturday we could be in business and make the cut.

I'm working on the chipping (why do I make such a simple shot so hard) and putting tomorrow and have a cheeky half day flexi booked for Thursday and a days leave on Friday. I'm hoping HTL will be around to give me a game but at 10.40pm on Tuesday night I have to say I as confident about my swing as I have been all season. Obviously that'll be the kiss of death but finally for once the golfing juices are flowing and the mojo is high

Homer, I really wouldnt concentrate too much on the driving range, it is 100 yards wide and even when trying to stick to targets, its never as good an indicator as a proper green/fairway with hazards.

Kidnapp him Homer! :D :D :D

Stick him in that 15th (extra) slot in your bag :D :D :D

Brendy - usually I'd agree but there were definite signs of a swing renaissance last weekend and so I really wanted to make sure it wasn't yet another false dawn. I've actually been playing far more than ever before in the evenings (thanks mainly to the advice/nagging on here) and some days are better than others but everyday has had some positive to take away. Some days the driver misbehaves but I chip and putt and sometimes the irons work. Never everything together.

I'm happy now that the swing I have and the way I hit the ball tonight means that come Thursday afternoon I can be confident over the ball which should help come Saturday
