just found out this morning that HR have cocked up with my leave entitlement.
It appears that, as part of a pay deal in 1998, once I hit 20yrs service, I should have got an extra 2 1/2 days a year.
They owe me an extra 20 days. :D :p
10 weeks leave for me this year.
Anyone for golf? ;)

RESULT! Time to get out and play some golf.

20 days off, that's at least a shot off the handicap?

28 years service, you must have started in the work house, aged 10.

Boy, get up that chimney, and don't come down til I can see my face in it.

If we don't use our holiday entitlement in the year, then we loose the left over days. Same goes for lieu days, they have to be used within 12 months.

The years I've not bothered using odd days, that I've lost out on I've lost count of.

Will I take them all? You bet your life I will

Can't trade in for payment. It doesn't work like that where I work.

Started at 10, you're very kind Murph but alas, I am older than you think I am.

I already have 6 weeks leave each year + bank hols, so i'm having a fifth of the year off :D
HID only gets 5 weeks so, mmmm, let me think, golf in the sun in the winter :p

That's an interesting point about companies buying unused holidays off you. Years ago lots of companies used to do it, but these days forget it. No chance.

I used to know someone many years ago who would rarely take more than a week or two off work for holidays at the very most, one year he didn't bother at all & then would get paid out for the unused holidays. As I say unfortunatly these days no company is likely to even consider this.

We can book our holidays on our days off if we like. I had some unused ones that I knew I wouldn't get chance to take so I banged them in on rest days to boost pay!

Why would i/anyone want to sell holidays?
I'd have 26 weeks off if they paid me :D

I know of some trades that do buy your holidays, my bruv used to get a couple of weeks a year paid back.

In my new company (big financial services provider) you can buy up to 8 days extra holiday or sell back up to 8 if you don't think you will take them. It's a new policy designed to show flexibility to suit people's lifestyles.

Congrat Vig, you must be a civil servant to have been in one job for so long.

I buy 5 days extra for about £30 a month on flexi, would buy the year if I could afford it.
