Hey three of our par 3's are under 165 yards, so I can get a smooth driver to them.Remember Rich hasn’t had one yet either; it’s difficult when you have to lay up ?
I'm also not sure the 'bottle of whiskey on the bar' is a decent solution in this day and age with regards to drink driving. If everyone's already got their post-round pint or two shandies, how many can accommodate a straight whiskey on top and then drive home?I don't drink spirits so for me a bottle on the bar has no appeal to me. Similarly a lot of my playing group don't drink shorts and I'd rather buy them a drink of their choice to celebrate my success/ As for the others, part of me says tough. I don't know you so why would I spend money on you?
I think this is an interesting one. At my club everyone has to drive, location dictates this. Whenever I have seen shots on the bar I have always declined for this reason. If I get a hole in one maybe I should offer to get the latte's in? Lattes with a shot of whisky in them? ?I think this is an interesting one. At my club everyone has to drive, location dictates this. Whenever I have seen shots on the bar I have always declined for this reason. If I get a hole in one maybe I should offer to get the latte's in? Very modern
If you can prove you are a passenger and not the driverLattes with a shot of whisky in them? ?
In my eyes all hole in ones are valid, they have equal value.
...and as much as 'bottle on the bar' is the tradition at my place - not much good to me as I'm a teetotaler But I'd still buy a bottle if I did plonk one in a hole in one - plus a drink for any who didn't partake of the uisge beatha. Just thinking that spread out over 50yrs of not having to buy such a round of drinks the cost per year of the whole round of drinks will be diddy-squat. And I wouldn't be expectant of doing it again any time soon thereafter.I'm also not sure the 'bottle of whiskey on the bar' is a decent solution in this day and age with regards to drink driving. Nor crazy golf. There are some limits.Surely those on a pitch and putt course don't count?
Was part of my thinking but also want the enjoyment of a beer and some banter with my pals about whether it was a good shot/lucky etc and enjoy the moment. I don't drink whisky so already forking out for that and then for my beer so paying twice. Sorry but when I get one, my PP's and my roll up mates get one and there are a few faces I would be happy to pay for but after that.... toughI'm also not sure the 'bottle of whiskey on the bar' is a decent solution in this day and age with regards to drink driving. I can just picture you walking around the clubhouse offering drinks to selected people onlyWas part of my thinking but also want the enjoyment of a beer and some banter with my pals about whether it was a good shot/lucky etc and enjoy the moment. If you can claim on the club insurance surely it's drinks for everyone rather than a bottle on the bar?Should it ever happen, I’d buy the drinks for my group and put a bottle on the bar then claim on the club insurance.
Days of buying a round for every one in the clubhouse are over. Of course these days they’d need a substantial meal as well.
Mate, if you ever get one it should be a round for every Club you’ve played at.??If you can claim on the club insurance surely it's drinks for everyone rather than a bottle on the bar?
Haha I remember when Faldo won the Open at Muirfield in 1992 and sent a bottle of whisky to every pub in Scotland as a thank you for the support. I'll need to fork out for close on 400 bottlesMate, if you ever get one it should be a round for every Club you’ve played at.??
Ours is a bottle on the bar and anything else is up to the person getting it.
I have been lucky & had 4, with an 8 iron, 6 iron, 4 iron & 5 wood, 3 on my home course and 1 on an away game. Each time I have either rung the captains bell or offered everyone in the bar a drink, you don't get one often so why be tight plus its a good tradition to keep alive.
