I was a proud ‘no’ until our 17th yesterday.

White tees 160 yards into a brisk and chilly wind. Pulled a 5-iron but wind got up so swapped it for my old Nike Viper 5 rescue.

Never looked anywhere else as soon as I struck it. Landed on the green, one bounce and in through the front door at a little pace.

Best part of 40 years trying. I was slightly numb after the shot but it was a dragon finally slain.

And if you’re gonna have one then make it a good one. This one was textbook.

Nice one sir :)

Im sure D4S will be pleased for you ;)

I thought I did today, walking up the green absolutely buzzing. Can only imagine my disappointment when I got there and see the ball had pitched about an inch from the hole and rolled about 10 feet past.

Congratulations. ???

Nice to hear how, at pace, it went in. Some would say it would normally bounce out or it is best to have the pin attended just in case. ?

Had a lip out last night on 14th at Newport....Still waiting ? I've had a few near misses now

I have had 4 hio's, however the most frustrating 'miss' was on our 14th which is easily our toughest par 3, on a dewy morning I walked up and saw my ball had landed a couple of feet in front of the hole, it went in and around came out the back and finished about 9" behind the hole, all graphically shown by the lines of the dew :censored::ROFLMAO::LOL:

A few years ago for my only one.
16th at Rodway Hill in Gloucestershire, downhill par 3 - was out on my own and thought I'd come up short but ball hit downslope before the green and got a forward bounce, rolled nicely across the green, hit the flag and disappeared - I whooped!

Two guys were playing the 4th which runs perpendicular behind the green so I made sure to call out to them as I got close so they could witness me picking the ball out of the hole!

BTW, has anyone ever had one and admitted to there being no wind?

It generally seems like we live in Tornado alley, when it comes to HIO's.

It's a funny thing, but until Monday I was sure they were a matter of pure luck and flukery.

But now, you know... I'm not quite so sure. In fact I'm convinced it's more to do with skill and ability. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Fragger hasn't had one so it can't be down to luck.......
