Hi just wondering if there are many members of the military on this forum and also to mention that I was just back visiting God's Country last week and I played a brilliant course at Burntisland which was made even better by the fact that members of the military only have to pay half the green fee which is a very generous offer. So I have been wondering if any other clubs offer similar initiatives to the military and maybe we could compile a list if they do.

there seems to be a big move, and well overdue, to create more respect and recognition for those who don the queens uniform and risk life and limb for others. a lot of lower league football clubs allow free admission to current service personnel and veterans. politics apart i think its a good idea and i'm sure it will be of interest to many forum members.

Totally agree Madandra . I'm ex-Royal Navy but never saw any kind of action. Too late for the Falklands - Too early for the Gulf . Every single one of those blokes who are putting their lives on the line have my utmost respect so any discount that can be set up for them would be welcomed .

ex-FAA,
there was time when the forces got reduced rate travel.
they could also virtually guarantee getting lifts (the cap on the distinctive holdall was enough), then the great unwashed caught on.

22 years in the RN and leaving next year. I know Burntisland well, nice course. A few of us got half price golf at Formby Hall in Southport during the Open, nice gesture and a great course.

What a good gesture by the club. We have the best forces in the world and treat them like crap, the job that they do deserves so much more money and respect.

be simple enough, just produce your ID card and get the discount.

I remember that this method applied to loads of stuff in the States for active duty personnel (green ID), including Amtrak, internal airlines and Disneyworld. They even allowed it for us though we had some problems as ours were blue, same as their reservists.
