Was at the range today hitting a few with my driver, to me it seems that my driver is getting a very high flight. I am not sure what is the preferred flight for a driver but I am hitting it higher than I hit my seven iron. Surely that is not right!! My driver is a Taylormade with 8.5 degree loft, anyone any ideas what might be causing this??

And me 9.5 g20, even when i try to tee it lower, reg shaft about 80 ish swing speed,

does it
start high then go higher?
start high then plateau?
start low then climb fast?
Without wanting to steal SM's thread, mines the 1st one, don't think i'm to steep, working on hitting from the inside and does not feel at all steep, people i play with do comment on how high it goes,

This used to be my problem. Check your grip as a weak grip can cause this. My driver used to be like a wedge it would fly up high then just come straight down like a stone. It had no penetration or run when it hit the fairway.

What shaft is in your driver?

The flight of the ball generally tells you a lot. Does the ball climb very quickly then just drop out of the sky? Or does it have a nice rainbow type flight but just on the high side?

Generally it's quite a nice arc, distance seems ok I think, only started a couple if months ago, between 200 and 250, hard to tell on the range, my ball position is roughly in line with with my left heel.
My friend uses a 10.5 degree driver and I hit about twice as high maybe more

As said above it could be the tee at the range is to high, I acquired a couple and cut them to the correct length for me. I do tee the ball a bit lower than most though. If you have a nice arc and your getting the distance you say don't worry about it.
