Its now 3 weeks post op and I went to the range this morning for the first time. It probably looked odd, me limping in with a walking stick carrying two clubs and a glove!

I was worried as the hip resurface was on the left hip and I knew that I would need to finish with the weight on that side. The first swing in anger with the gap wedge - straight down to the 100 yard target and I am fully through the swing !!!!!!

I hit 2 buckets of balls, fairly gently with the gap wedge and a 7 iron, and came away with a bigger smile than when I won a big competition last year.

I can't tell you how happy (and tired) I am as I write this
:whoo:

Happy days Chris but take it easy. A few of our more mature club members have had replacements etc and they eased themselves back in over a few months and are playing as I'd it had never happened, beggers are hard to beat.

I'm glad it all went well enough that you were confident enough to do it! It is one of the best feelings in the world! Don't run before you can jump mind…

I will never forget how nervous I was after my knee ops coming back and hitting a ball!

A biased point of view, with being a medical student, but they do do a lot of good these doctors…!

They keep Ping in business for a start… :p

Good news Chris although I agree that just because you had one session without reaction, hitting too many balls too soon may not be a good plan. At least you hit them well so I guess it just proves that class is permanent

Thanks to you all for your positive comments, thats what makes this forum what it is!

Glad to hear it Chris. How long do they say before you can get back to the course?

I'd like to think that I would play 18 holes by the 15th January as I will have a 4BBB knockout to play

That's really great news Chris and I can feel your smiles and delight from here :whoo:

I'm sure that having been through this once you'll be sensible and not do too much too soon but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel that isn't a train !

How is Mrs Chris??

Thanks Amanda - I'm not sure that me and sensible belong in the same sentence!

Mrs Chris is on the road to recovery too and, again , thanks for asking

I hope your holiday golf is going well

Sensible Chris - the chance to use one of my favourite words - oxymoron

I don't practice what I preach and finished a marathon with a fractured tibia just to be bloody minded but have learnt since then !!

Good to hear Mrs Chris is recovering and a good start to 2012 at Chez Chris sounds in order

Enjoying the holiday golf for sure and playing some good stuff liberally sprinkled with some total and utter poop but hey such is this beautiful game we choose to torture ourselves with !!

Well done Chris.... glad you're back on your feet. One question though.......
....how far did you hit your 7-iron? :D:D:D

Thanks James

I hit it forum average - 195 yards, so slightly disappointed, but after my S & T lesson I guess theres another 10 in there somewhere!
