Played Hillside, Southport on Monday, what a stunning golf course. Its right next door to Royal Birkdale and is said to be one of the best seaside courses in the UK. I can see why!!!!

Green Fee was £70 and worth every penny.

This course has everything you want in a links golf course. Superb views from elevated tees and fantastic fairways that weave their way through very high dunes. A great test of golf with nice deep bunkers and fast greens.

If you get the chance to play this track grab it with both hands. I've heard that the green fee can be as little as £20 if you play as guest of a member!

Only course i have played in that area is Southport & Ainsdale. I think it is great area for a golf trip, especially if you like links golf (which i do)

I have played Hillside several times and it is a fantastic course. I think it is as good as any in the area. Brilliant greens and a back 9 that Greg Norman called the greatest collection of 9 holes together anywhere in the world.

It is a superb links.

I played Hillside as part of a long weekend in Southport last March. It was a fantastic way to start the weekend, we played it Friday afternoon. Very friendly and course in very good condition. As stated, back 9 was golf heaven, the par 3 10th being an indicator of things to come.

Followed this with 2 days in Formby Golf Club staying in their dorm above the clubhouse - excellent welcome, again very friendly. Finished of with Royal Birkdale on the Monday, which for me was incredible.

Next March doing pretty much the same.

Friday - Hillside
Saturday 36 at Formby
Sunday ditto
Monday - Royal Liverpool

Staying in the Formby dorm for 3 nights.
It cant come quick enough!

I should add the Formby Golf Club is fantastic and as enjoyable a game as Hillside. It starts quietly but when you get to the 4th you start to hit the dunes and the trees. Lots of variety.

Totally agree. We played Hillside, Royal Birkdale, Souhport&Ainsdale and Formby Ladies (don't snigger - short, but tight with evil heather!) and that stretch of courses is phenomenal!!!

Hillside is so picturesque and has my favourite par 5 probably ever. :)
