Higher than usually golf shoes ?

I have a similar issue. It's not so bad now that I've stopped playing football, I'm no longer nursing sore ankles after footy.

This is what I found helpful:
- Wear a knitted or compression ankle support.
- Wear lower, flatter golf shoes. My feet felt closer to the ground, more stable and less likely to roll an ankle.

I have Nike Infinity golf shoes and winter boots. They are very comfy but are similar to running shoes with a thicker cushioned heel. I wouldn't wear them if I was worried about turning my ankle.

Compressor angle support didn‘t work for me. 🙁

I currently have a model from Footjoy, however I recently discovered the Ecco Golf BIOM H5, and I think I will at least take a look at it, even though he does not have spikes. 🤷🏽

And I‘ll ask my orthopedist for his opinion about them … ! 😉

Have you thought about a wider sole to give more stability.

Most high boots just make your ankles weaker over a long time.!

A wider sole might just stop you rolling it over.

Good luck.

A wider sole may help indeed, but IMVHO only in addition to a higher boot. I played handball with such boots. And I will not wear them all the time, but only when playing golf, so I don‘t think that they will make my ankles weaker over a long time.

Regarding boots with a wider sole : Do you know of any … ? 🤔

Look on Fitville.com.
They sell wide golf shoes and wide shoes boots .

Tbh a good pair of hiking boots are much the same as golf shoes now, unless you want spikes.

Sorry, I need a wide *sole* ! A wide shoe is not my Problem … ! 🤷🏽

BTW, I just received the opinon of my orthopediatriyt : He approves of the Ecco boots ! 😁 So I will certainly have a Look T them ! 👍

Ok, folks, the Ecco Biom H5 is it ! (y) :giggle:

The upper material is made of (very soft) leather, and the really (very!) wide sole is made of synthetic material. The shoe is waterproof, however it is breathable. 😶‍🌫️

Admittedly, in terms of stability, he is not comparable to an orthotic, however he still provides significantly more support for the ankle than a ‘normal’ golf shoe. 😳

In addition, the sole protrudes by an estimated 1 cm on both sides at the ball of the foot, so it takes a while to reach the tipping point - and then (hopefully!) the shoe does the rest...! 🙏

Of course, I also have something to complain about, however, that's just nitpicking:

1)
Currently, the shoe is only available with a treaded sole. A version with (soft) spikes is not available (yet ?). 🙁

2)
At the top, the shoe closes on the inside with a kind of “rubber cuff”. This means that the shoe fits snugly, however, it is impossible to put it on without a shoehorn. 🤷🏽

3)
The handle on the back, which is actually intended as a dressing aid, is much (much!) too small and does not deserve its name - quite a difference to my Red Wing Shoes … ! 🤬

Nevertheless: Even though the shoe is not cheap (EUR 250.00 = £220.00), I think (and hope!) that the shoe is worth the money! 🙏👍
