As secondary options, I’d look at The Manchester Golf Club and Pleasington GC. Manchester is a fantastic course. Huds on here will know more.
No chance @ MGC on an October Saturday.

Formby Hall might, being a resort course?? Think there’s Herons Reach in Blackpool, but never played it.

Tough on a weekend. Dunham Forest or Mere might be a shout. Dunham is a Jewish course and all the competitions are Sunday.

I’m off to Liverpool for a trip in Early October, we’ve currently got

Thursday - Lytham
Friday - Birkdale

Sunday - Hillside Booked

There’s 7 of us, but I’m having major issues getting on a course on the Saturday (afternoon as obviously members play most of Saturday).

I’ve tried - Formby, Delamere and others so far.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Fancy hosting us in the area?

Thanks a lot
If its the 3rd then there is a pairs open at Fleetwood. I am sure you could get one more from here to join you.

If its the 10th then I am out of ideas :)

If you struggle to get on anywhere "good", after Ormskirk next level down is Grange park, Blundells hill, Houghwood.

If cant get on anywhere, our course accepts visitors of a Saturday morning and afternoon - distinctly average for your tastes though.

If your still looking for somewhere good but within an hour of Liverpool, Sandiway is a good un, Manchester GC, Bolton old links, Stockport and Preston are amongst the better ones.
No chance on Grange Park on a Saturday our comps are on Saturdays.
Lee Park has improved lots since I left their comps are Sunday so a possibility.
Blundells Hill is a good call as it’s proprietary not sure of comp day.
Your halfway to Lancaster that’s a fantastic course.
Saturday is comp day for most around here.

Might struggle to get on Bolton old Links on. Saturday as a guest as comp tee times run into mid afternoon.

Worth an email though a like most places they will probably more open to the extra cash visitors bring

As a member though. I think it’s a cracking course. A real test imo.

I'm a member at a 'rival' club but agree with tuggles that old links is class. Would defo be worth trying to get on if possible.

Not played the ladies course but formby in general is superb.

I see you are in hillside too. Mate. You have a good few days awaiting you.

Enjoy
Agreed, but it’s a shame to miss S&A, which in my humble opinion is the most enjoyable of the 3 courses. It isn’t as spectacular as Birkdale or Hillside, but every hole is enjoyable.

If I had to choose which course to be a member of then it’d probably be S&A.

I’d recommend it next time.

It was on the list but unfortunately they couldn’t accommodate us.

Already pencilled one their men’s team open in September though

Formby Ladies is no pushover it’s a great course.
It lacks a little length that’s all .
You will enjoy it .
But you need to stay out of the heather it’s very tough stuff.
