Just got back from Luton Hoo after todays HFH day. First of all as an ex-serviceman a HUGE thank you to RickG for organising todays event, and to my playing partner GB72 for the effort he put in in getting the auction items/prizes.

I'm sure Rick will post later with the final tally but it was a goodly sum.

Thanks again to GB72 and my other playing partner Timgolfy for a pleasant day's golf in good company.

it went for £1 more than you bid ;)

Glad the day was a success and an e-pint for Rick for organising and GB72 for the prizes, I doff my cap to you fella's

Well done to everyone involved in todays event, Rick announced the total raised was in excess of £5k.

Thanks to my playing partners Chris, Steve and Pete, I really enjoyed your company.

Here's to next years event

Despite numerous bids on the forum I think every item went for more than what was offered online. Best seller was the Ryder Cup signed flag that went for a staggering £400.

A big round of applause needs to go to Rick for sorting an excellent day, getting good numbers out on the course and for raising a massive amount of money.

Thanks to my playing partners for a great round and great company. Really solid round from Sweatysock, do not think he failed to score on a single hole and Timgolfy has much more to his game than just a big hit. Yes he can hit a long way but he also played some superb iron shots and showed a nice touch around the greens. Mind you, he was just short of the green on the longest par 5 with a drive and a 4 iron whereas Sweatysock and I needed a drive, 3 wood and a wedge to make the same distance.

Here's to next year

as has been said, but worth repeating, a huge vote of thanks to rick for all the hard work he has put into this event. I'll leave it to rick to tally up the final result but suffice to say that the original target of £3K has been well and truly busted.

there is no doubt that GB's sterling efforts in bringing in the donations for the auction, and the generosity of the donors - orka, gokart, stewart golf, yonex, galvin green, and all the others, made hitting a new high possible.

it may have been in that moment of euphoria knowing that it was all over but rick did say he'd do it again next year - so start saving.

well done to everyone involved in organising today , a good day in good company , cheers to steve, pete and rob look forward to the next time

I posted these details in the original thread in the arrange a game section, but here they are again:
Preliminary total raised: £5852.08

Included in this is £1860 still to collect from the auction bidders.

Also we still have the Powakaddy bag to auction when we receive it and I have some wristbands still to sell.

This should take us over the £6,000 mark when we have finished, which is double what we set out to raise.

A huge thanks to GB72 for organising most of the prizes and to everyone who has contributed towards this amazing total

Very well done Rick. As a serving soldier with friends who have had the benefit of what H4H do (though fortunately never myself) I really appreciate it and thank you on my friends' behalf. That really is a fantastic total. Again, very very well done! :)

Well done Rick, and your band of helpers. Looks like you all had a smashing day. Brilliant amount of coffers for a very good cause.

Set yourself a big challenge for next year now. :D

Just a quick update that GB72's extraodinary efforts in securing prizes swelled the auction fund by a massive £1618.75!!!!

He really did a fantastic job here, and it made a huge difference.

In all we will have raised £2550 (inc gift aid) from the auction. When you look at last year, we only had 1 auction item and raised £250.

This has made all the difference this year and Greg needs to take the credit here...well done mate, I take my hat off to you!! :D

I seem to remember a thread about Timgolfys driving distances (£1 for every yard when he hit over 300 & £10 for any drives that went over 320 ??).
Does anyone have details of the yardages and where I should send the money?

Thanks Rick, thanks really need to go out to the companies that gave their support. A bit of shameless plugging I know but here goes. These are in no particular order:

Orka Golf: Stuart the MD there was superb. It probably took him less than 10 minutes to get back to me with his full support. Sending a set of his top of the range irons and 2 stand bags really was above and beyond my expectations. Thanks Stuart.

Go-Kart: Also agreed to support the event within minutes. Anyone who has dealt with Sandy will know how great she is and how nothing is too much trouble. Not only did she provide a Go-Kart but then added a matching bag to help ramp up the bids.

Justgolfonline: I have been buying kit of these lads for a couple of years now and they offer superb service, highly recommended. They had no qualms about sending a couple of pairs of shoes. I liked the shoes so much when they arrived that I actually bought a pair in the red and white design and thoroughly recommend them.

Stewart Golf: Never had any contact with them before and found Mark the MD a pleasure to deal with. Again, he replied within hours offering their latest push trolley. i had never seen one of these before yesterday and it was stunning, certainly on my list when I need a new trolley.

Galvin Green: Another company that I had not dealt with and who were very accomodating. I expected maybe a shirt off them when they replied so how shocked was I when they sent 4 of their top shirts. Really good looking gear and I wished I had won one.

Titleist: Not really had a mention before in my prize list but they got my email and sent out a box of balls without any thought at all.

Yonex: The real surprise. I had given up hope of getting anything else in when they contacted me on Friday. By the next day the Monty flag was on my doorstep and you all know how much that raised.

Powakaddy: Unfortunately the bag did not arrive in time for the day but I am sure it will be up for auction soon. Another great display of generosity.

And a final thanks to MikeH. Without his permission to use the GM name in my emails I am sure that I would not have got anywhere near as far as I did. And the subscription donations helped to swell the coffers.

A long and rambling email I know but what I wanted to get across was how generous these companies have been. Getting this sort of support in the current economic climate is not easy so a massive thanks to all of them.

Please, remember the genorosity of these companies when you are looking to make purchases in the future.

A few other companies were unable to help this year but promised to help next year so heres to the next one.
