Hearing rumours that Monty's a gonna...

Is this metaphorical jumping ship, or Robert Maxwell fat git jumping ship?

It would be a loss, as he could yet be a good captain. It is certainly something which would be nice to find out, as he talks a good game.

Wonder what other revelations are about to pop out of the woodwork to prompt this?

Plenty of able captains around, no great loss if this rumour is true.

A chance for Sir Nick to redeem himself...

A shame if true as in my opinion he would be a great captain. If it is then Langer over Woosnam for me.

Surely they would go with one of the vices, so McGinley then. It wouldn't be Clarke. Bjorne?

Langer has done it before, and is too meticulous to do it at short notice.

Olly ought to be asked really.

Surprised Lyle hasn't stuck his name in the hat.

Think Bjorn would be a good choice, but would assume either he or Olazabal would be Captain when it returns to mainland Europe. McGinley captained the GB&I said in the 'Seve' trophy so has the experience of captaining a number of the team.

Lyle could do it, but if things went badly after the mornings foursomes/fourballs, he may well walk off and call it quits :D :D :D (sorry Sandy fans, couldn't resist it!!!)

Yes a return of Soren Stenson, what part of Ireland are you from, he's got very White teeth, sandwich lists etc. Dj Spoony! Nuff said about that clown and his handing of the Ryder Cup on a plate to the Yanks.

Is this for real. I thought Monty had one of these super injunctions in place so what's changed. If it is is true and not a scurrilous rumour (heaven forbid) I guess McGinley with Seve Trophy experience would be the logical choice. Can't see him going this close unless he's been caught drowning kittens. Not sure anyone will really care if he and his man boobs have been caught in someone elses boudoir

Agree with you Homer, we've already had the Monty shagger story, not sure what else would be so bad that he'd give up the captaincy at this late date?

Quite.

That's what's rather concerning.

If this is true, then it must be something that the R&A and the other players would consider to be an 'untenable' situation.

Or is it just sycho (ah! I've tried three times to correct this. Sod it!!), babble to try and fox the Yanks? Or even just internet/media bullshit?

It's Psycho Graham :o

Back to topic - I think if Monty does go,then we can say goodbye to the Ryder Cup. Surely it will spur the yanks on, they'll love something like this wont they?

Golfmmad.

What have the R&A got to do with it? :D
