Played a PB on my home course today with an 80, 5 under handicap. I almost broke into the 70s for the first time but hopefully that will come this year.

Opened with a double bogey thanks to hitting OB on my second shot but that was the only double of the day. Making 11 greens in reg was another first, which is reflected in the 35 putts with three 3 putts.

My big worry now is, as it's the first medal of the year next week, have I peaked too early?

It is great when things click together in one round. Use it to give confidence aim to play that way but don't expect to play that way every week or you might become frustrated when it does not quite work out.

Don't want to cast a shadow over your game though it was great scoring and you should be very proud :)

Crow you haven't peaked too early. I went and shot 2 under handicap the day before my medal last week and asked the same question. So I went out and did it again the next day. Still waiting to find out what I got cut though!

No such thing as peaking too early in golf. You will have days you play well and days you won't, only a bandit can choose when to play well. You can go into next week full of confidence knowing what you are capable of. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to do it again though. As I said to Homer yesterday, I can't choose when I play well but the more often I do the more likely I'll do it in a qualifier.

Well played and good luck next week
