Thanks Madandra
There are a lot of misconceptions out there, and to be honest I can see where most of them have come from!!
One of the most important things for me is to have real dialogue with our customer, hence the decision to ask the public to volunteer to be prototype testers and being on forums like this. I want to know what people really think and then maybe we can give a brand that ticks those boxes.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Can I ask where you got the inspiration for the name?
Orca is a killer whale if I'm not mistaken, so why a big black and white blubbery sea mammal for a golf brand and why use a k instead of a c?
Marketing is extremely important as you know so why not a usual name like Pinseeker or Mach3 Golf or even your own name like Johnson as per Mr Ely Callaway or Mr Tit Leist?
Just interested, good on you for chasing a dream, wish I had the nous to do something similar.
Thanks

ORKA - came from a collection of words that are relevant to the values of the brand.
Advance, Advantage, Online, Revolution, Kudos etc etc
There were a number of words that I wanted to be integral to what the brand represented. Of all the words I wrote down there were a few that meant a lot to me, and hence ORKA was born.
I wanted something that was short, and memorable, the whale issue was one I considered as a downfall!! But still convinced I carried on!
That said ORKA looks good as a logo, and represents who we are.
As for my own name, had I won The Open then I may have considered it. But generally the thought of using my own name somehow seemed a little vain, but that is just me. No offence to any large well known brands named after founders intended.

Stuart,

Do you have any tour staffers on board yet? If not how hard is it to get a Tour player to come on board? That would be the best marketing tool I would imagine, if you could get Sergio or someone like that on board.

I would quite happily play a shiny new set of your clubs to help promotion of the brand if you like. I like the look of your forged cavity back! Hint hint

Stuart,

If you ever want somebody to test and give feedback on anything don't hesitate to contact me.

I play once a week and practise atleast 3 times at the range so have a fairly consistent rhythm which would enable me to give a sound oppinion on your products.

I'm not seeking freebies by the way, I'm happy with my current gear. I am just happy to offer my services to a fellow businessman.

Jon.

If you go to the Orka website there is a link under 'Orka Club' to put your name forward as a tester. As a proud owner of a Kii driver I can vouch for the gear being worth a try for anyone looking for some new kit. I have just ordered a hybrid as well (felt that the £120.00 that some are charging for their new models a bit steep)so will let you know what I think

After Ricks post about his new sticks, I typed orka golf into google and found this from '07.

This thread even attracted a response from Orka's owner.

Brings back memories. Had a set of Kii irons and a hybrid then. Sold them to TonyN for his dad. Was a massive mistake. Just bought 2 Kii hybrids even though they are a 5 year old design.

To be honest I didn't check the dates on the threads and thought it was funny Medwayjon was back online. I knew he'd jacked it in and thought maybe Easter had given him the bug. Interesting in light of recent events

I also didn't notice the dates and thought it had to be a Mod-Free-Weekend wind up! Just couldn't figure out how the posters had so many posts yet I'd never heard of them.

I have only ever had one rescue club and it has been in my bag for 5 years now. It's a Kii with 20* of loft. One of the best clubs in my bag.

Folk's, thanks for wishing to know more about Orka.

just wish to clarify we are a niche brand that has won awards and beaten all the major brands. We arena specialist custom fitting brand and not a retail brand. Be bespoke build and fit your clubs a bit like Miura and Vega but WITHOUT the price tag.

if you wish to know more you can find me on twitter. AlexOrkaGolf

happy Easter.

Alex welcome back fella, did you notice the original thread date ;)
