Has anybody tried one of these before?????

I've had tennis elbow for years. The only cure for me is rest, a week off and I'm sure I'll be all right. Rest and Ibuprofen before you play normally works forme.

The thing is, this has been kicking around since August last year. Despite not playing much during the winter months it doesn't seem to be getting any better. As I say, I've tried Voltarol gel, Voltarol tablets, Ibuprofen tablets, and worn a tennis elbow strap, all without real success. I've played a couple of times where it hasn't really affected me during play and have scored well. But the next morning I go to pick up a cup of coffee (or tea) and it's back.
I went to the cupboard the other day and without thinking picked up a bag of sugar.....bloody hell!!!!

What, you forgot you don't take sugar :( I'm the same, can't drink tea with sugar in it.

BTW you're supposed to take the tablets orally. No wonder you walk like a girl ;)

I had Tendonitis this time last year, and a customer of mine who is a sports physio said that mant instances of Tennis Elbow are caused by neck problems.

have you had neck problems in the past?

I eventually had a cortisone jab and no problems since

Keep Swingin

PS the new avatar is well scary

Hey Smiffy,
My 2 cents for what its worth i know that your doc said to see a physio but dont wait for his recommendation..... He will send you to a normal physio... If it were me i would go and get to see a sports specific physio who specializes in these kinds of injury...... They'll definately be able to sort you out ......
I snapped my achilles last year and while doing rehab for it the hospital physios were just intent on getting me back walking properly......
When i went to our club physio he gave me a set training programme and special stretching exercises to do for 5 months ....... Something the hospital physios never even considered......
Just some food for thought for you ;)

I'm not scared of the needle. Dentists, yes. But a needle in the arm holds no fear for me. Honest.
It's just that I've been reading up about this gadget thing and it does seem to give results.
A 98% success rate and fully endorsed by the medical profession.
I know it's £69.95 but I'd give anything to stop this bloody annoying pain at the moment. I'm not enjoying my golf.
It comes with a 30 day money back guarantee so my thinking is that if it hasn't given any noticeable improvement before the Walton Heath game it can go back and I've lost nothing.

I have had tennis elbow on and off for years. This last time it has just gone after nearly 3 years. Saw a specialist who said i could have a cortisone injection, but no guarantee improvement and long term could make elbow worse. It makes your tendon turn into something similar to crispy bacon.

I stopped playing tennis as this was making it worse, but luckily golf did not affect the elbow. When i had a video done of my swing it was noticeable that i was not fully straightening my right arm in the follow through, but keeping it bent and tucked in.

From my experience the only cure is total rest, and as it is impossible not to use your arm the recovery time can be lengthy. You also need to pinpoint what caused the problem in the first place, so as not to repeat.

Mine has been caused by painting, pruning, and the last time, and easily the worse case, by digging out old grouting from a shower. It is the straightening and twisting of the arm that causes the problem, with the tendon literally being pulled off the elbow

I realise the above is not much help at the moment, but once you have had tendonitis, you are likely to always have a weakness in that tendon.

Hankley Common August last year. 9th hole. Ball buried in some heather. I'm having a cracking round, looked at the lie and suddenly thought I was Superman.
Why play safe and chip out sideways with a wedge when an almighty "Seve like slash with a 7 iron" would see me out of the crap and on the green putting for a birdie.
Have you ever had a 7 iron stop dead in it's tracks tangled up in the heather?
And I didn't only attempt it once. No, muggings here had to try it again. That's what caused it. What a knob.

Have you tried 600mg Ibruprofen off your Doc? They are good. Or ask for Diclofenac, dont buy the shite you get from over the counter.

Without wanting to sound ignorant (or more so than normal) did you ever get it x-rayed etc to make sure there isn't anything more serious going on as it hasn't cleared up

It's Tennis Elbow Homer. I've had it before mate and know exactly how it feels. You only feel it when you do certain things like pick up a drink or something with a little weight to it. If your hand is in the right position you don't feel anything at all.
If it's really bad, just gripping the club hurts.

Live round the corner from Hankley Common. It must have been your primeval screams that have been giving me mares. :D

Thing was, it didn't hurt at the time. The pain came about 3 or 4 days later when I was down in Cornwall with some mates playing at Lanhydrock. Picked up a club for the first time after Hankley and I knew I was in problems.
Made up a makeshift support with a bandage and some insulation tape the following morning as the pro shop down there didn't have any proper supports in stock.
But it's not been right since.

Just as an update on the situation...
I purchased one of the tenease gadgets, it didn't really help at all.
I carried out a further search on the internet for "cures" and read about something called "Ruta", a homeopathic drug that is supposed to be very good for this condition.
Purchased some off of Amazon and have been taking them now for just over a week, maybe 10 days.
Result???? Outstanding! My tennis elbow has all but disappeared. I am still getting the odd twinge now and then, mainly on first waking in the morning.
But the last two times I have played since taking these tablets it's been great.
Walton Heath wasn't too bad at all, started getting a little discomfort (albeit very mild) towards the end of the round but I could put up with it very easily.
Played 18 holes at Hever Golf Club last Sunday and not one hint of pain all the way round.
The arm feels much stronger and squeezing my hand into a fist no longer gives me any pain in the tendons that were hurting before.
Early signs are good, so if anyone else is suffering from tennis elbow I can highly recommend trying RUTA tablets. I think they cost me just under £6.00 for a bottle of 72 and you just dissolve two on your tongue, three times a day. Not unpleasant in taste at all, and I'm a lot more upbeat about things than I was 3 or 4 weeks ago.
