Harrington and Bjorn handbags at dawn...

I think he is just positioning himself before he jumps to the PGA full-time.
No great loss to the european tour

No great loss? Are you kidding?

Agree totally Ethan. Whether or not you agree of disagree with Paddy comments, you cannot seriously believe that it would be no great loss to see him off the European tour?

Cheerio Paddy. Billy big boots, its ma baw.

I'm in Thomas's camp.

Im with Ethan on this one Harrington would be a big loss on the european tour...
He is a player that always speaks his mind for that you have to admire him and he is going to ruffle a few feathers in doing so but ask this question.
Has Harrington gone to the commitee before with no outcome for his troubles and maybe the commitee are just puppets on strings that are being tugged by someone else maybe thats why he has threatened going to the union.

Harrington will be a major loss to the tour especially economically in already difficult times. He's still a great man to have in your field as a sponsor as he'll always try and grind something out irrespective of being a 3 time major champion.

I'm pretty sure Harrington must have previous frustrations or issues with the committee to act in this way as it seems a little out of character for him to be so petulant and so public. I think with a little common sense on both sides a happy medium will be found

He is not a draw for me.
Maybe I am just too much of a football fan where the mantra of no player is bigger than the club rings true.
The tour will carry on, another player will fill the slot.

So the best european player would be no loss to the european tour? What planet are you on?

I think Stensen and Casey might have something to say about that!

If Paddy thinks that the Euro Tour is taking steps to block him playing a transatlantic schedule, he has a right to feel aggrieved. Bjorn is not exactly Mr Diplomatic himself, and I think he has a brass neck telling others how to conduct themselves with the media.

Remember this?:

I think Bjorn may also have a chip on his shoulder, having missed out on big wins and Ryder Cup appearances.

I think that even they would conceed that he is the best. The only reason that they overtook him in the world rankings is because of the work he was putting in on his swing. Now that he has come through that he has been sensational in the last few months.

Stenson and Casey are great golfers, but in terms of achievements, Paddy is in a different league now. You can also be sure that Casey, at least, is watching this issue carefully because he sees his future on the PGA Tour too.

I still really don't understand why top European players feel the need to play in America more. The FedEX Cup format has proven to be a bit of a joke and now that we have the funding from the Race to Dubai you have to think it can't be for financial gain.

Better weather? Not with the amount of tournaments in the middle east etc now?

I know corporate America wins again

on a plus point the rise of India and China (both European Tour venues) should (should) strenghen the European tour in the next few years

I watch tons of golf on TV and the US courses bore the tits off me,big tees, big fairways, big bunkers and big greens are the norm.

I much prefer the variety we see in Europe, yes we have courses like the mundane US ones but on a whole I reckon I can count on one hand the amount I watch in the US and think to myself 'I would love to play there sometime' whereas in Europe I say that to myself every 2nd week,Holland,France,Portugal,Mediera,Italy,Scotland hosting some of those.

I am sure if I played I would say the same but would want to chase the dosh and would no doubt play in the mundane States! ;)

Why would Harrington be a loss? He palys about 80% of his golf on the other side of the Atlantic now anyway. We are doing quite well with some of the exciting young guns comming through, Harrington has acted like a spoiled brat.

As someone said earlier, Harrington will be replaced by another soon enough.

You dont hear Garcia crying to the press or Luke Donald, Els, Goosen etc about having to play one extra tournament on this side of the atlantic.

My opinion is you play one tour, you support it, you want to go chasing the buck then you live within the rules set down by both tours and you have to accept that is that!
