Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow

That was one that puzzled me some years ago. When restaurants started offering a Valentine's evening.
How does that work, I wondered?
Do they both have to wear blindfolds?
No longer a secret admirer, if they don't.
And then it would be a self-defeating exercise spoiling the mystery.
But I'm a romantic. Not many of us around these days, I suppose.
I think you've invented your own meaning for it. It's not the sacred day of blind dates and anonymous cards, I can't find anything online that supports that. It's widely known as a day to celebrate 'romance and love'. That's it.

I'm not a fan of it really. It seems to be one of those things which is more about the female than the male, shall we say. I'm sure Instagram will be full of the sickening 'the boy done good' type posts with showers of gifts. Materialistic rubbish.

My wife and I have a table booked out tonight, I bought her a card and some flowers. That's good enough in my book. I'll expect maybe a card from her in return but no more.

We do cards but not pressies anymore.....mind you, mine to her is still on the mantel and I don't think she's even written mine yet....
Just a couple of old romantics....... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

On a slightly serious note....the amount of money some people spend to say something they really should be saying every day is staggering....
Card sellers and florists are picking their lips.....

I believe there has been some effort made to correct that imbalance with 14th March (steak) and 14th April (cake) becoming special days. ;););)

no it certainly was a thing 80/90 from a secret admirer. i dont ever remember my parents sending one to each other

That is the same as them (probably) not celebrating Halloween as it is now. They are both more commercial things nowadays and companies like jumping on the bandwagon to get us to spend money.

There may still be some romance attached

If anyone received a "proper" Valentine Card today, I imagine they would be extremely worried by a possibility that they have a stalker.

I don't think young people do that sort of stuff today. Easy to stalk your object of desire on their socials and send them a snap. I believe they then slide into someone's DMs

Two dozen roses and a box of Lindt Lindor...lucky girl :-)
I once bought my wife a dozen roses, spontaneously.
She looked at them, looked at me and said two things:
1 You got them at a garage didn't you?
(Yes. How do they know this stuff?)
2 Right, what have you done?
(I hadnt "done" anything but I couldn't get my face to convey that.)

That was genuinely the last time I bought flowers.
(Luckily, she's not a flowers girl anyway).

M&S delivered mine :-) I like flowers but not so keen on arranging them!

I ordered 12 roses along with the card from Thortful. They arrived yesterday, and by this morning three of them were drooping and dying already! Not happy! Complaint has been lodged.

So Grandad Tash told young Bradley Tash to get his 12 yr old girlfriend a card for Valentine’s Day. He did and some choccies and a mug 😳
Anyway it’s skool jollydays and a girl has just knocked on the door and given Bradley Tash a load of stuff. It’s his girlfriend, they told one another they love one another and Bradley Tash needs a bigger head he is grinning that much. He is deffo punching.
