Anyone getting Hank Haneys book on Tiger Woods today?

I am a Tiger fan and I don't think it will change any of my views on him, would be interesting to see what goes on from a coaches point of view, though I think it is going to be a 'tell all' book.

I think it'll be a cracking read especially if the quotes about Poulter and others are true. I think it'll show the once media darling Mr Woods as being an obnoxious two faced selfish knobber.

I'm a huge Woods fan for his golfing exploits however his empire is slowly crumbling around him and this book could actually nail the coffin shut on him if thats how he talks about his fellow professionals behind their backs.

Interesting times ahead interesting times.

Just reading some further extracts in GW seems like it might be an interesting read not sure about rushing to buy today though unless there an offer to be had.

When I read about the Poulter business I was on Tiger's side... Poulter was really cheeky "How are we getting home then" and skanking a lift on Tigers plane.

Tiger is difficult to like as a guy, but the same applies to Poulter... to me he seems like a guy that finds criticism very difficult to accept.

Although come Ryder Cup time, i'll be his best mate!!!

On the flip side of the coin, if I owned a private jet and was golfing with someone who was making their own way home via "public" transport I'm sure I'd offer them a flight home. To then send someone a message in the way that he did is pathetic and surely to God he must have expected that to escape to the media at some stage.

Tiger is not as clever as he once thought, for someone who had the press eating out of his hand and fighting to lick his backside he's now got even more wanting to cut him down!

At the moment though Tiger is still getting a lot of exposure, when ever he plays a PGA event the Golf Channel and CBS coverage only really follow him, and to them he's still the biggest thing since sliced bread..

I think before all the personal life stuff came out he was a very arrogant, I'm the best in the world kinda thing, but since then he has had to work hard not only to get his golf back on track, but also win back fans which he is doing. He doesn't seem as arrogant in his interviews anymore.

I have missed something here, what was the poulter thing, and sending a pathetic message?

I think what Poulter did is quite funny. He certainly has some brass neck to just rock up at the airport and call shotgun on the spare seat :D

Poulter's cheek forced Tiger to do what any normal, grounded person would have done without being asked... give do a fellow competitor a favour.

The Zach Johnson hotel p0rn story is just weird. Why would Tiger think that's funny? The guy is clearly religious, so why do something to deliberately make him feel uncomfortable?

It's all interesting stuff, but can't help feeling Haney is trashing his own professional reputation by telling tales out of school. If I was a pro, I doubt I'd want to work with a guy that gossips and badmouths his former pupils, however famous they are or however much money he was paid to blab.

Totally agree Monty-Brown... the porn gag was weird, it said to me that here is a guy who is surrounded by people that tell him what he wants to hear "Oh Tiger that really is funny" ... Poulter took a punt but in my opinion has an inflated ego himself.

Haney - I suspect is banking on a last pay check, sure to make a 4 + million as the book is being drip fed by various publications too. Very poor though.

I don't think that is any more than a bit cheeky of Poulter. Both of them live in Orlando, and any half decent person would have offered a lift before the other person had to ask for it.

Tiger has always had a reputation as being cheap, though. Part of his image includes his charitable work (although those have major tax benefits and enhance his profile), but he doesn't tip waitresses (well, at least not for serving food) or locker room attendants at events. Phil Mick, by contrast, is known for his generosity.

The Zach Johnson story just illustrates that Woods is insensitive to causing offence to others. Zach is a well-known God-botherer (which is his right, if not my preference), and Woods would have known that he would have found the situation difficult and not in the least amusing. Maybe Zach should bring a few lap dancers with small Tiger-like kids along asking "Where is my Daddy?". I am sure Tiger would find that hil-freaking-arious.

I think you'll find this character of Poulters is one of the main reasons he is so good at Matchplay and Ryder cup golf. And I think you need a certain personality to be a top golfer.
Look at Tiger Woods. Muttering and swearing under his breath on every shot that is not world class.

Totally agree but it just grates when Poults cant take any criticism.... he went mad recently when the Sky lot dared suggest he perhaps had too many out of golf commitments and thats why he wasnt competing in tournaments.

I'd have liked him to have aaid - "You lot are probably right" and used it as a motivation.

Still rooting for him Ryder cup time.... cant wait!

Its a book, im sure theres parts in there thats true, but you cant really accept whats in it as fact

I would think it would need to be pretty factual, as it talks about real people, and real people sue if you tell porkies about them. Tiger can afford a lot of lawyers to do his suing for him.

The Da Vinci Code is pure (pulp?) fiction. You can say what you like in fiction. Which is just as well for Dan Brown, as he finds it impossible to get any thing right.
