Handicap target for 2008

As I don't have an official handicap I just go on my average scores which are low to mid 80's. Since I came back into golf I haven't broken 80 yet, so that's my first goal, then it's a case of being in the 70s as much as the 80s.

A little more consistentcy and a let fewer putts and I'll do it easily.

Maybe!

15.1 at the mo, would dearly love 12 or below (and genuinely feel I should play to that) but i would be more than happy with getting it down by a point.

Got to keep those big scores off as they're what kill you. It's not how many pars and birdies you make, it's how many doubles or worse you don't make!

Playing off 13.5 hope to get close to 10.
I just need to hit some greens in regulation rest of the game is good at the moment.(Now Cursed obviously)

Sitting at 10.8 just now; be really happy to get into single figures, or whatever is .1 below A_F. Have a feeling it might need to be closer to 8.

Had a lesson today and the pro said that he could have me going round in 85 by the end of the summer so that has become my target. Going to take a lot of work but have 3 little aspects of my swing to work on over the next couple of weeks.

At 5.9 at the moment, anything under 5.0 would be good. 4.4 would be amazing.

As sig comments on, need to work on course management and playing the sensible shots not the one in a million shots.

Haha if only. I must admit i love being good from with in 150 yards it keeps the scores right down. I played today and i hit a 4iron of the tee and my father in law really wellied his driver a good 180 yards, but it only went 10 yards further than mine. Who needs a 1 wood, hahaha

9.4 would be good. Not going to happen around my new course, would have to average 7 over to get there. (CSS is 2 less than par).

I play with a guy for whom distance is not a problem. He knocks it round to 5 every week more or less, plays off 7.

Goes to a big boys course and still knocks it round to 5....

NA,

They are the FUN shots though!!!!! :D :D :D

Target for this year is to start a downward motion in the handicap. I slumped badly to get to 10.7 by the end of last season so starting the year with a playing handicap of 11. I was on the verge of getting to 7 not all that long ago, but an op on my neck caused all sorts of problems afterwards. It's amazing how much pressure the golf swing puts through your neck I can tell you!

I am looking forward to the start of the year with a little more confidence than last year. I want to take it slowly and consolidate, with the chance of getting some good golf going by June and hopefully be able to play well through the main summer months. Realistically, If I can get to 9 before August I will be happy. I know I can do it, I just have to go out an play well. That would leave a couple of months at the end of the season to try and get lower , between 8.5 & 9 would be excellent result.

Thats the plan anyway, just hope I can keep to it.

True, they are the fun shots but I plan on keeping them for the bounce games. Gonna focus more on the percentage game in competitions to hopefully lower the scores this year.

I'm at 14.1 at the mo (lowest ever!) and my target is to get out of the teens to 12.4.

Seems to me the posts are divided as to how to achieve goals. Some are fixing a problem with their swing (cure the slice seems popular!) and others will use course management. I'm in the latter camp - aim to remove the triples completely by accepting a solid bogey on the long par 4s. I averaged 7 pars per round last year. If I bump that to 9, throw in 6 bogies and allow myself 3 doubles I'll be off 12. Job done!

Canford, No doubles at all matey, if you can achieve up the middle time after time regardless of distance you will have already met more than half of the challenge.

I was once as low as 6 and now 12.2 so I suppose I should aim high and go for single figures for the coming year…

I would settle for ending the season with a handicap lower than what I started with for the first time in god knows how many years
