Iv just previewed this post im sorry that i cant seperate everything it looked fine when i was typing it. :D

i guess you probably could lose a shot but i wouldn't be too sure about it because it was a 14-hole competition and you probably had placing in the competition?

Hi Rocco,
I may do but im not sure i had 28 points in the last comp and was cut on general play from 20 to 19.

I don't think you can be cut on anything less than 18 hole comp though i will stand corrected if i'm wrong.

Towards the end of summer last year when the nights where drawing in, our midweek comp became a 10hole comp and we never got cut for winning or good scores.

Ya was talking with the pro today and he says that once its a competition that no matter how many holes you can still be cut.

This is incorrect - a qualifying competition can only be over 18 holes, unless it is previously specified as a 9 hole one.

I bet you were playing lift, clean and drop in the rough too....

Ya samme,
It was specified as a 14 hole open singles stableford competition..
Those were the rules and bunkers were out of play.
I played very well so im hoping it merited a cut.

So it wasn't competition conditions (as stated by CONGU) as you only played 14 holes, all the bunkers were out of play (which I'm not entirely sure you can do either) and you played a rule (lift, clean, drop in the rought) that is not allowed under the rules of golf

I'm suprised you bothered holing out to be honest....sorry no merit, no cut due.....

Sorry sammee..
It was lift clean and place on fairways and cut rough.
Can a player not be cut on general play then if this is not the case.
Surely if i was to hand a card in without it being in a comp and over a period of weeks it is thought that im playing below my handicap then i would be cut on general play.....Am i wrong in saying this.

The short answer is no....you have to do it in competitions, unless there is an exceptional reason to do so, as a junior getting better quickly, as they do, I would say there is no such reason....

Look, keep your handicap, wait for the 1st competition when you're playing 'proper' rules, get 44 points, win the come, upset some old people, and get your handicap cut....

Preferred lies is lift clean and place on closely mown areas (not rough cut or otherwise) - anything else, even if your course is like a bog in the winter (which I know it is), is not proper golf....
