Quick question

Previously clubs have run handicap KOs with Handicap limits etc

Also the county run a “Mid Handicap” league which has three sections

2 players - 6-9
2 players - 10-14
1 player above 14

So the debate we are having is

Do clubs/county use handicap index to create the limits or is it Course handicap which of course could be different depending on which course you play ?

Its got to be Handicap Index.

You cant have a situation where the entry stipulation is based on course handicap, as it would mean that a player would be eligible to play one week but not another depending on the slope of the course being played.

It would make sense to use the HI when setting the limits. Or more pertinently, it would be nonsense to use CH. What figure would you use if a player's home club has 3 sets of tees?
But CH should be used in the actual matches as both players are playing from the same tees..

Yes some people will move groups but other than nice round numbers what was the basis for the previous grouping? Surely just apply those to HI and regroup as necessary.

There WILL be complaints from people but I bet there were unhappy people before, they just had no basis to complain against, now they do.

In a bit it will all settle down and things will go back to normal, the player base just has to let go of the numbers as they are different and generally things should be better overall if HI is used.
