Handicap Cut....great end to the golf comp season.

Hi folks

On Saturday I was informed via HDID of a handicap cut of 1.4, down to 24... I am over the moon.Its just topped off my golf season.It was after shooting 88 back end of last week at my course (9 under par for course par of 72....6 under par on SSS of 69 ).I am assuming it must be 4 x 0.3 cuts ???.

Being told that just made a great end to last week and the golf season.....after winning an OPEN at Hexham and shooting PB of 88..both 2 days in a row...following on from my Hole In One and Midweek Medal win earlier in the year.I said all along hcap cuts were the MOST important thing to me as it officially shows some improvent in my golf game.All the hard work,good attitude(most of time) and never give up spirit has paid off at end of season.......Oh and I got my Hole In One stories published in BOTH Golf Monthly AND local golf mag Golf North East..nice little extras.

Now I am hoping to book a session of golf lessons over the Autumn & Winter,as I dont want to stand still.

Well done, but at Category 4, which you are, it would be 3 X 0.4 or 4 X 0.4, cant see how they get 1.4.

Cheers Louise..thats what I was thinking to......havent had it directly explained to me as been away...to be honest not that bothered how its been worked out....as just dead happy its happened.

The cut doesn't seem right. 4 x 0.4 would be 1.6 and 3 x 0.4 would be 1.2. What was the CSS (not SSS)

Dont no what the CSS was.I will e mail the secretary and ask him how my cut was worked out.I was 25.4 and now I'm 24 dead.So I will ask him to confirm that my cut was 1.4? or see if he has made an error.

Nope I am 100% HDID will not have made any error, see what your MHS says about it.

I looked at Garesfield results on HDID to try to throw some light on the issue. There were results up to 6th October but I could find no score which fitted in with your figures (went back to the beginning of September). What date did you play?

Not Sure.........But it could have been a Supp. Card.......???.......as I know Kev has put a few of these in also.......but it is a 'Strange' number cut to arrive at

Ah, that would explain why the comp results didn't make sense - supplementaries don't appear on HDID. The 1.4 cut is still unexplained.

If he has put in a few Supplementaries, I suspect that these might not have been actioned as promptly as comp results. It could be that he had a 1.6 reduction and also 2 x 0.1 increases - all from Supplementaries - which would give nett 1.4 reduction.

Wasnt in a comp Brian.Was a knock with other golfers who in the bar afterwards (along with others in the bar ) advised if I was looking for a cut to put my card in marked " for handicap purposes " and the Hcap Sec would more than likely cut me.They also said I was daft to do this!!!!...But i've strived for a cut all season.always been my main aim......so I thought if I've shot 88 I damn well deserve the cut so in the card went.
So you could sort of say it was a Supp Card,but it wasnt planned out that way before I played.Yeah I did some Supp cards a few times up until around 6 weeks ago,but stopped after that.Just kept messing up with the pressure I put on myself.

I am still waiting to hear from the Club Secretary for his explanation to 1.4 cut......like I said earlier in the thread just happy to be cut.whether its 1.2 1.4 or 1.6.....its for the curiosity of others I am trying to find out.

Yeah Rosecott theres a possibility your assumption could be right.Although my last Supp card went in around 6 weeks ago....so there could have been increases from that without informing me over that period,until I got my 1.4 cut?

2nd try once again lost another e mail to Internet Explorer not working............so annoying.Make this one a lot shorter!

Got an explanation through for my hcap cut from my golf club hcap secretary..the even better news for me is my cut is not 1.4...its 3.4!!!.....25.4 down to 22..I am just over the moon with this......cut makes sense now as well....1 stroke cut for winning an OPEN at an away course....and 2.4( 6 x 0.4's ) cut for shooting 88 (net 63 ) at my course.This completes my season target of 22.

Everything has just been worth it now............think I deserve a beer from the fridge for this.

Yippee!!!! Golf is WONDERFUL.
