Handicap Advisory visits

THat is a prime time to let them know what you want.

Sorry, it wasn't a trick question but I just realised that clubs don't attend the EG meeting. It is the County Voting Member.
The EGU is in effect owned by the counties not players.

I suggest that all clubs should be doing their CDH Cleansing now that the Annual Review is out of the way.
A random spot check I have done shows large numbers of players stuck in a limbo of transfers between clubs. Apart from anything else, this can cause problems with away scores.
There is also the possibility/probability that the CDH count will soon be being used as the tool for calculating club subscriptions to EG.

It doesn't really need outside help

The only help you need is to submit the list of names to EGC either through mail or by opening a ticket as noted on your instructions.

Our system is pretty clean anyway , the number of players on our handicap system matched pretty much with the CDH when we ran the report. Some clubs never do the housekeeping and cause a lot of issues.

Many clubs never do the housekeeping and cause a lot of issues.

The major fault whenever a system is bought into being especially an IT System that is run at club level by volunteers is that there is very little explanation or training given which can be further complicated when committees and individuals change.

EG and county do need to do more on these has there is no easy solution.

And the counties are owned by the members.
Not quite. The counties are 'owned' by the clubs.

But how many (playing) members require their club to make appropriate noises to the county and how many clubs pass that though to the the county. In my not unlimited experience - very few if any.

Re IT systems. There are about 10 suppliers for 'golf club' systems. Some are completely separate management and handicapping systems from different suppliers. Some are integrated and some semi-integrated. The specification for the handicap functions is common to all. However, some suppliers still cannot get it right.
Apart from the fact that EG and the counties simply haven't got the resources to educate/train the staff of nearly 2000 clubs, this must be the responsibility of the clubs themselve.
EG have sent clubs straightforward instructions umpteen times on how to ensure that the relationship between the club records and the CDH is sound. They can't hold their hands

I was making an observation not an excuse. I'm quite IT savy and have few problems with systems but to expect other volunteers (usually) who change occasionally has its problems and county and EG need to appreciate it. Writing coherent and easy to follow instructions for IT systems isn't so easy for some people to follow. As someone who has had to do it I know the pain :p.

One of the major frustrations with many people, and I'm not talking just about golfers here, is the continual emphasis for things to be on line. Although I feel this will be less of a problem in the future many of the current crop of "user" are self taught.
