Has anyone had tendon transfer surgery to the thumb and can give me an account of how recovery went regarding getting back to golf?
Two weeks ago I had surgery to transfer a tendon from the index finger to the thumb as I snapped it last year. The index finger has two tendons that extend it so they can take one and sew it to the snapped end on the thumb, 6 weeks in a cast but interested to know when realistically I can start playing again, anyone had similar?

No idea, what did the specialist say? Also any physio scheduled? Don't rush back, be patient some things are better not rushed. Good luck !!

Not exactly the same but I had my right index finger cut off and reattached last year. Physios initially said 12 weeks, made it to the range on schedule and then 18 holes in maybe 14 weeks.

My thumb wasn't touched though and I expect that will be the limitation rather than the finger.

Biggest piece of advice is physio is something you do, not have done!!

Work hard on it and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies, going back in a week to have cast renewed and stitches out and will find out more, will find out more after 6 weeks and physio starts, just asked on the off chance that someone on here may have had the same op with real experience. I was still playing after I snapped the tendon with no issues, just couldn't straighten the thumb.
