Gypsies occupying the car park

Yes it should take that

I can only guess your life hasn’t been affected by their actions

They don’t earn anyone’s respect
We've had caravans in our golf club car park on many occasions.

And having worked in a prison for many years, I've had lots of lengthy discussions with various "types" from the lower end of society.
And I have given these issues of how we treat such people a great deal of thought over many years.

My comments are based on my experiences of being very much face-to-face with people who are called "gypsies", "pikeys" and "scum" by others.
And also with being face-to-face with many who do such name-calling and worse.

Living in a town surrounded by travelers comps the experience of the local town is

Murders
Stabbings
Slavery
General theft
Destruction of kids playgrounds
Throwing human 💩 everywhere

I think what you say has a lot of merit. The problem is (and older Romanies have said this to me)the younger ones don't give or have the respect the older ones do. As a result they cause unneccesaru clean up costs and damage repair costs that the older ones dont and didnt.
The case I highlighted was a result of them immediatley being seen scouting the area, they were adjacent to family quarters. If they had respected the area they might even have been given a little more grace, but they didnt.

A few years ago my local authority had an exclusion zone granted by the high court thats stopped any travelling within the authourity boundries. This was after a couple of years of constant encampments that caused the authourity hundreds of thousands in clean up (human waste, household waste, garden waste, tarmacing debris, gas bottles) , car park and playground repairs.
We also have a couple of fixed Gypsy settlements, and they dont cause any problems.

Just had an email from our club, the auto barrier is not auto after hearing there are travellers in the area.

The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 makes trespass a criminal offence if the trespasser intends to reside on the land in or with a vehicle, and if they disrupt the land owner's ability to make lawful use of the land.
So travellers occupying a golf club car park clearly falls under this (assuming they plan on sleeping in their caravans), and the police can arrest them.

The police will not arrest a traveller acting otherwise peaceably, merely for sleeping in his caravan on a golf club car park, regardless of what the law says.

Sadly, there is a bigger picture, whether we agree with it or not. And for the record, I don’t.

I'm not sure referring to them as "types from the lower end of society" is much better that the other words you are scolding people for using. It's hardly a compliment

Police can now get enforcement notices to move them on - happens regularly around here where they arrive in a park - 24 hours later they are moved on by police

So what you're saying is that this particular criminal offence (which is what it is, by definition under the 2022 PCSC Act) is one that the police choose to ignore?
Like many other criminal offences that seem to be ignored by the police - presumably due to lack of manpower.

Which is why I put the word within quotation marks to indicate that it is a questionable term.

In quoting me, you should have put it as

""types" from the lower end of society"

leaving the quotation marks around the word.

The three words I chose to criticise are because they attempt to describe or a label a particular person but their usage is commonly very inaccurate and inappropriate.

I did this facetiously by using the terms "nob" and "toffee-nosed" to label wealthy people. (Not all golfers are wealthy and/or upper class)
I don't know whether anyone appreciated my facetiousness.

Inaccurate labelling and name-calling is widespread. Some is more offensive than others.
Some groups of people are protected by law from vile name-calling.
Poor people seem to be the last group of people who can be called vile names with impunity.

We had the scum taken up the car park at the local 9 hole municipal a couple of times lately. There's a bar to stop them entering but they just cut off the chain and open it. The police want nothing to do with them. Videos surfaced a couple of months ago of the same gypsies fighting with rival gypsies using machetes and bats. Lawless scum. Leave a mound of rubbish when they go

Are you simply having a week in which you try and patronise everybody on this forum?

I’m not saying they ignore it. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. More often than not those setting up camp will move on when they know their time to stay is up.

Just because a police officer has a power of arrest it doesn’t mean it’s mandatory to use it.
