Have just signed up for a greensomes comp, have may of you played this is it any good.

I understand it is where you both tee off then alternate shots from there until you hole out

Think it's a very good format - you certainly get a lot of high scores.

Best advice is too ensure you can get both drives in play regardless of length.

Was thinking that my playing partner drives much further than me but i'm in play more, so I was thinking I get one in play then he can just go for it.

Are you allowed to tee off in any order?

Tee off in any order you want - ideally you want the better iron player taking the second shot and the better putter the first putt ( if possible off course )

I don't play a lot of it. I know my old mucker HawkeyeMS isn't a fan of any of the alternate shot formats and so we don't bother. I'm not a great fan either if truth be told but at least by hitting a tee shot every hole you feel more involved on every hole as opposed to the foursomes format

I like Greensomes, it's a bit different and a quick way to play. When you hit a bad shot, don't apologise, otherwise you'll find yourself doing it all round, and nobody hits a bad shot on purpose.

All our mixed events are greensomes, allegedly because our men don't like some of the positions our lady members put their drives.

Are they not used to playing from the middle of the fairway?

I like it better than Foursomes because it's more sociable - though takes considerably longer! Foursomes is the quickest game I know - quicker than a Single if played properly!

Neither form seems to be very popular down South - except at the very traditional clubs.

Sounds a great pairing and you are already thinking the right way.
You can tee off in any order on any hole.
