Greensome Pairs

Play in pairs (obviously), both drive off, pick one ball and play alternate shots with that ball. If you pick Player A's drive, player B takes next shot etc. Handicap alowance is normally 0.6 x the lower + 0.4 x the higher.

Played it yesterday for the 1st time, good fun and makes an easy round if you're tired. We all played off scratch as all roughly the same high handicap. won by 2 holes too :D

It's better if you both play the same type of ball, nowt worse than hitting off a pro v1 and your partner is using a pinnacle. :)

funny you should say that, I was using pro V's and he was Callaway 1's and I hit his ball better

Good point.

If we play my tee shot, then my partner plays to the green, i then miss (obviously) and he rolls it in. Do i then have to tee it up on the next hole?

Im guessing this is wrong and the process of us both driving and chosing again starts over?

If you take your ball on the 1st then you play the odd number holes, correct me if i'm wrong.

I think you are thinking of foursomes which is pure alternate shots. One partner drives at the odds and the other on the evens. Greensomes you both drive every hole and pick either ball on every hole.

One played and partner carved one OB at first. Oh well, no damage done we can take mine I said. He then proceded to carve my once hit pro-v into the cowfield too !!

My mistake, both tee off on greensomes(googled it). It was 4 ball I was playing but sure I heard the more experienced player saying it was greensomes. Cant wait to to correct him next time we meet :D Both are a good game for a change though.

No minimum number of tee shots. Sounds like you would always take the better players, or longer hitters ball but in practice you may need the better player playing the second shot from further away. It's a common mixed format and you certainly don't end up taking the gents drive all the time.

American greensomes is a popular mixed format. You each play each others drive and then you choose the best one after your second shots.

Played several Mixed Greensome comps for my club last year with the Men off the whites and the ladies off the reds. great when you have a lady who plays off 7 and bangs it straight down middle, you end up taking shots in places you dont normally play from. We were 6 up after 7 and eventually won 4 and 3.
Also won a club comp earlier this year with my pairs partner, playing off a combined handicap of 19 we managed to rack up 42 points and win by four.
Its a good fun game if played occasionally, wouldn't want to play it more than a few times a year, unless of course I get the call from the club to represent them.
