I have. It's fairly new, I'm guessing about 20 years old or thereabouts. Quite open, can be VERY long from some of the back tees so choose carefully. It's OK but personally I wouldn't go out of my way to play it.Has anyone played at 'The Players Club' in Bristol? look at this as a potential venue for a trip this year.
It's currently between this and The Vale.
Or any other suggestions welcome, Ideally looking for a stay and play venue with 2 courses, preferably in the South.
Previous venues have been, Belton Woods, 5 Lakes, Sandford Springs, Goodwood, Old Thorns, Helidon Lakes, The Belfry, Celtic Manor and Forest of Arden.
Thanks
My son has played it. He likes it, but accepts it is a fairly new course so may not be for everyone. It's had a Europro qualifier there so they can get it to a decent standard. Clubhouse is pretty relaxed and so a place you can easily feel comfortable (his words)Has anyone played at 'The Players Club' in Bristol? look at this as a potential venue for a trip this year.

I fully agree with this. It was built as a ’monster’ course, extremely long with a 600 plus par 5 - but it was considered a bit too tough/long, the long 5 was split into 2 ordinary holes. When they added the second 18 the remodelling of the maincourse lost a couple of good holes. It’s ok but wouldn’t rush to play it.I have. If you're referring to The Vale in Glamorgan, I'd give it a swerve, the 2nd course is poor and the hotel wasn't great.Has anyone played at 'The Players Club' in Bristol? look at this as a potential venue for a trip this year.

Agree with this, I’d add Kingsdown GC to the list, close’ish and at least as good as the others. I have not played the 2nd course at the Players but reports say it’s not very special. The Vale is bordering on awful. If you play The Players, and you don't play their second course (which I haven't so cant comment) you have some alternatives in close proximity. Bowood, Manor House, The Kendleshire, Chipping Sodbury and Chippenham. Google away and see what suits.
I was going to suggest Bowood/Manor House as two round trip, there is a pub in Castle Coombe you can stay in, they've also got a cabin by the 18th, plus the hotel at Bowood but I've found that pretty soulless. The Vale is bordering on awful. Depending on what what you like, a three dayer of The Players, Bowood and Manor House (Castle Combe) will entertain adequately.
If you fancy South Wales, find a convenient hotel and travel between Southerndown and Pennard... most of the coastal courses in between are decent!![]()
I’ve played the Kittocks, very enjoyable track.Just had an invite to come up to St Andrews in March to play The Castle and Kittocks... that's great as I have driven past several times and haven't the played before. Might try and play a third course if the weather is decent!
