Gravity...the movie

In the film Bullock completes a space walk, which the woman in that article you found did not. Just because someone older has gone into space (in fact only 2 people older according to the article) doesn't make it anymore realistic for that space mission IMO. Considering first Angelina Jolie (who turned it down) and then Natalie Portman (turned it down due to scheduling conflicts) was supposed to get the lead, I think either of them would have been a little more believable. Don't get me wrong, I do like SB I just personally think the casting is a little off and the studio have opted for a bankable name

shock horror! Profit making movie studio uses a 'star' to help make more money:eek:

What I find unbelievable is the cameramen who must have been floating in space beside her

You're misquoting the article, many people older than SB have gone into space. There is absolutely nothing remotely unbelievable about a 49 year old woman being an astronaut.....

..... I can still dream! ;)

Ya do know its fiction mate dont you ?:D:D they dont expect her to walk in space so her age is ok ..

you go to relax and be entertained , so go , sit back become engrossed and switch off from thr real world for a while ..

Thanks for pointing out it was fiction, without you to make that astute observation I may have thought I was watching a documentary or something.

For me to enjoy a film based on a believable scenario, I like to be engaged and connected to the characters. It's what makes a good film for me, so if I think the character is poorly cast it will affect my viewing experience. It's why for example I struggled to enjoy the Jack Reacher movie "One Shot" with Tom Cruise as the lead. As I said though, I am pleased on this occasion to admit I was wrong and felt Bullock put in a fantastic performance.

Myself and my significant other went to see it last Friday, a truly awful film from start to finish, yes the special effects were good but the story, acting, directionverythin else was awful, I wanted to go to the pub after 40 mins in.

It's 90 minutes of my life I ain't getting back. It's so bad it should have went direct to DVD.

Rarely is a post so monumentally wrong. :D

I guess that is the wonderful thing about movies in that you can't please all the people, all the time. I would however be interested to consider what Alan regards as a good film if he thought that was awful!

Actually no, that quote is spot on. I saw it in 3D which is the only thing that made it watchable. If I'd gone to a 2D showing I would probably have walked out. Totally ridiculous storyline, the word farfetched doesn't even come close!

Rotten tomatoes liked it a lot.

I haven't seen the film yet but 99% of Hollywood blockbusters are way OTT and amateurish. I know they are fiction films but it wouldn't hurt to make the films a bit more realistic and believable once in a while. I'll have to wait and see how this one turns out.

Agreed if it wasn't that I'm such a tightwad I would also have walked out. Awful film

I rate anything from mainstream to some real obscure stuff, just watched White collar Hooligan on Netflix this afternoon and although a cheap budget it seemed to work well.

I rate most things the best I've seen recently at the cinema was Django and fabulous film.
