This is getting fantastic reviews, one of the few films I will pay the silly amount entrance fee to see.

Anyone seen it yet?

It's surely the worst bit of casting in history though? I mean, Sandra Bullock as an astronaut? Don't get me wrong, she is a fine bit of older lady but it just seems odd.

cant be the worst as she and 'him' and the movie will all be nominated......:cool:

I seem to remember another 'lady' as an astronaut......Barbarella :smirk::smirk::whoo:

The only problem comes when the space shuttle drops to below 50 mph and Keanu Reaves isn't there to bail her out ......

Well neither are ideal, although at least Clooney's character is on his last mission, where as she is on her first. Either way, both seem a little on the old side for believing they are going into space for such a mission.

Judging by this article I'd say it's far more realistic than you believe:

Average age of astronauts making their first space flight is mid-forties..... If Bullock (49) was really making her first trip into space she wouldn't even nearly be the oldest person to do so.
 
Been told by those that have seen it that its a worthwhile watch... A little on the short side, in modern terms at about 90mins, but I feel that could be a good thing... Can't stand films that take two plus hours to tell a story that could have been told just as well in 90mins...

In the film Bullock completes a space walk, which the woman in that article you found did not. Just because someone older has gone into space (in fact only 2 people older according to the article) doesn't make it anymore realistic for that space mission IMO. Considering first Angelina Jolie (who turned it down) and then Natalie Portman (turned it down due to scheduling conflicts) was supposed to get the lead, I think either of them would have been a little more believable. Don't get me wrong, I do like SB I just personally think the casting is a little off and the studio have opted for a bankable name

Ya do know its fiction mate dont you ?:D:D they dont expect her to walk in space so her age is ok ..

you go to relax and be entertained , so go , sit back become engrossed and switch off from thr real world for a while ..:thup:
