Goodison Park

I remember when I couldn't get in any of the car parks near Anfield one time and managed to find a spot on the street nearby..... I too was approached by a young un who offered to watch my car for £5, I said no thanks and his reply was "you do realise you're in Anfield la" ..... I didn't pay and nothing happened to me car but he did make me smile.

Used to go to Maine rd with me dad when I was a kid. He used to chuck them a couple of quid and would say " if your here when I come out you will get another couple of quid". They never where. Me dad once told me a story. A kid said to a guy who had parked his car on the street " look after your car for a couple of quid mister", bloke says " no thanks I have an Alsatian in the car that will look after it". kids says" can it put fires out".

My dad was a scout back in the 70's and 80's in the north west. He was also a head teacher in the day, central Manchester. I'd often go with him to matches and we would park in side streets before going to games. It was standard for kids to ask for money for looking after your car. He'd always ask them which school they went to. When they told him he would tell them how he knew their head teacher, he knew them all, and if there was any damage then he would be in touch next day. Their faces were a picture. He always gave them a few quid and his car was never damaged.

There was an absolute throwback outside the ground with a young lad sitting by the turnstile with a Guy shouting

"Penny for the Guy!"

Wow, throwback to the 70's, early 80's.

Apologies if the word “Scroats” offended anyone.

I just take I dim view on anyone that “offers” to look after your car 🤷‍♂️
