This afternoon Chief01, Hooker, Dufferman and myself played at Merrist Wood (Dufferman's club) near Woking/Guildford. Friendly knock with some good banter. Dufferman (HC 17) played well and looks like in line for another ESR. Hooker (HC19) should be called Slicer while Chief01 (HC24) played some great holes between some not-so-great holes. Overall good day out. Dufferman was a good host and bought pints with his winnings.

The best bit: Homer decided to bail out at the last minute. Apparently today was his wedding anniv, which he had completely forgotten. His Mrs had booked a fancy meal but he nearly chose to a bacon butty with us instead.... I imagine he is wearing a suit looking into her eyes and pacing the distance between them using Aimpoint..

Glad you had a good day and round, was toying with joining you as I lived just down the road there for several years and met my wife when I lived there (aaaah) but I had to go car test driving rather than golf ball driving

Looks like the weather held for you

Homer's anniversary was Tuesday, clearly he just didn't want to play with you :D

i think today was the surprise posh dinner planned by Mrs H.. Had he told her about the game, I think she would have been more surprised..

The other highlights of the game included (among others)
- Dufferman's approach shot from some 130+y to about 5 foot of the flag
- Hooker and Dufferman trying to chase a big swan that wanted Hooker's ball on the green
- Chief01's remarkable ability to hit his provisional ball to almost the same spot where he hit the first..
- My general cack handed play..

For the record, I'm off 18, not 17 Vinesh! Makes my round of 87 even more impressive!

I regret not capturing the swan attack on camera.

Blimey... I think we should have imposed the mid round ESR :)

Had good fun yesterday despite the golf, great company and really good to meet you all. We should definitley do some more meets as there are lots of forumers in the area.

I'm not saying I was scared but that was a bloody big swan and it was determined to come and nest my ball, luckily dufferman came to my rescue without us teaming up it wasn't going to leave me alone! I didn't want to have a curb your enthusiasm moment

Putting tip for vkurup, remove any stones on your line of putt. So your ball doesn't jump up 2 inches in the air and stop!

Cant believe I did not see the stone in my line... and it was all about 5-7 foot putt fora well earned par. Someone did not do his job of providing pristine greens :) (I was having an indifferent putting day, as seen by the number of putts that sailed past the hole.)

Also cant believe there is swan video.. it was funny.

BTW, is Homer back from his meal?

Got to go out with our Sunday roll up which was a bonus as we were done by 11.45 On the downside I had to spend hours in a fancy restaurant and she'd invited the in laws as it was her birthday this week as well and I had to pick up the tab on top
