Played with HTL at our members/guest day yesterday in glorious weather. In the 4 ball better ball (3/4 handicaps) in the mroning we were a tad ropey out of the gates but by the end of the first nine (the 18th as we started on 10) we were beginning to play OK. In the end we got 38 points and finished 4th (40 won). The great thing was we scored on every hole and didn't commit the cardinal error of blowing up together on the same hole.

In the greensomes after a buffet lunch we weren't so hot. Again we did the basics right and had a ball in play on every hole but neither of us could hit any decent approaches or make up and downs. Thats said HTL holed out brilliantly from 3-5 foot on a number of occasions. We only got 35 in the afternoon. The scores from the AM and PM rounds were added together and were were well out of the prizes.

Afterwards there was a decent meal, a so-so comedian and charity auction and it was a good day. Thanks to HTL for carrying me (again) in the afternoon especially and hope he decides to join RA if/when he moves up this way.

If this is a post about golfing mediocrity this weekend then I'm qualified to post. :(

First card in 6 weeks today in home club 18 hole open and it showed. Iron play was poor and chipping was off.
Finished +6 gross which is about 3 too many so another 0.1. An Adolf at 10th (2 in the bunker) did for me, rest was ok....ish.

Enjoyed it nonetheless. :)

So Hywel is human after all then?

Sounds like a good day. Decent am score.

Hywel - sounds like you need a new partner Mate!!

The dream team is still intact and unbowed. We are an immovable force in matchplay and gelled well in better ball. I think we both realised that this greensome malarky is only half a game (can you tell how much I like any type of foursomes) and with HTL spending the back nine trying to sort out a misfiring driver we both got to the stage of trying shots that were in the die part of do or die to try and get our round started and try and keep in contention. I can only speak for myself but no need for a change of partner yet.

We managed to snatch a victory on the last green today in our final however it was a scrappy scrappy game at best with never more than one hole in it the whole way. In fact we were never down.

I played crap! Hooked the ball all over the shop and putted like a right knob.

And I played the same yesterday. Still managed 36 points and a win against the drift 2 & 1, but HTL is not a happy Golfer at the moment, things are just not happening and my handicap is quickly going up the wrong way.
