GolfShot issue with Samsung 15800

trying to help a mate out who's got a new Samsung GT15800. I've told him to download the Golfshot app for £18.00 but it's not working right so now I feel guilty and I'm trying to sort it out.
I use the Iphone app and I think it's great but the menus aren’t the same on the Samsung. I've selected the country but it can’t locate the course, gps is switched on but it doesn't locate us. When I select the course manually it doesn't provide any distances. I tried to cancel the app but these no way of doing that either so I can to scroll through 18 holes to get to the end. When I was doing this I noticed that some of the distances appeared for 3 of the holes.

I've sent an email to golfshot but they haven't replied, can anyone shed some light on this?

try removing and reinstalling the app or check if any updates are required for the phone/app (I am an iphone user so basing this advice on that as not familiar with the samsung)
