anyone got any decent ideas for a 1 night stay 2 rounds ...

decent course and hotel ! not looking to pay any more than 100quid!!

live in the east midlands but will travel about 2hrs

any experience shared would be appreciated

I can honestly recommend you don't go to Donnington Grove just outside of Newbury. A very long course of the yellows, signage for imbetween some of the tees is almost non existant. One to avoid.

Oxfordshire is a nice course but think it will be a bit more then £100. Lovely course, great hotel and the food was brilliant.

I stayed at Farthingstone near Daventry last year while on a business trip to Northampton and I think it was £79 b&b plus round of golf on a hilly and quite testing course. Not championship stuff but more than difficult enough for me and not a 5 star hotel but I enjoyed the golf and overnight stay.

I like Donnington, and didn't get lost between holes. The signs area quite clear.

What about heading to the Norfolk coast for some links? Hunstanton and Royal West Norfolk (Brancaster), staying locally in Wells Next the Sea?

Forest of Arden is decent, 2 courses, the Aylesford is a decent 2nd track and the Arden itself is a good test. I found the bunkers and greens were excellent on both courses.

Fair play to you then mate, but the four ball I was in all struggled, especially from the 9th green to the 10th tee.

It was in immaculate condition, but if your not hitting the ball at least 250 yards of the tee it's a real hard slog. If you do play it make sure you've either got a trolley or a buggy. Killer of a walk.

Have a look at the deals De Vere's are offering as i've stayed and played at Mottram Hall, Carden Park & Wychwood Park which are all within a couple of hours of you. All are excellent hotels with Carden Park probably being the best option as it has 2 courses (Nicklaus & Cheshire) both of which are excellent.

I've played: Belfry, Forest of Arden, Carden Park, Forest Pines
Carden is probably the best hotel, The Arden my preferred course and Forest Pines very enjoyable.

I can heartily recommend Best Western Ullesthorpe Court near Lutterworth - course and hotel both excellent. £89 for Sunday Saver B&B plus 2 rounds or £109 for DB&B plus 2 rounds any night.

Gainsborough GC in Lincolnshire.
Pings HQ and home to two decent courses. I've played the Karsten Lakes course and it was absolutely fantastic. Great mixture of holes, in terrific condition and well worth a knock.
They have accommodation at the club, little flats they rent out. Not the Ritz, but with a budget of £100.00 to include accommodation and two rounds of golf your hardly pushing the boat out.
This is the deal they are doing for one nights accommodation (on a Sunday night) including food and two rounds of golf.....

Sunday Driver
18 Holes on either course after 1pm on Sunday
3 Course Evening Meal
Overnight Accommodation in Apartments
Full English breakfast
18 holes on either course on Monday morning
£60 per person

That has got to be bargain of the century.

If I lived closer I'd be up there like a rat up a drainpipe.

Is that a typo? That's ridiculous!

Nope. £60.00 per person. Even for two rounds of golf around there that would be good value. Throw in the overnight accommodation and food and its a bargain not to be missed.
Just been talking to JustOne. We've played the course before. We're sorely tempted. And that offer is throughout the summer. Take a look on their website.
