Afternoon all,
These few questions are about the Golf Union and County Union subs any member of an affiliated club pays every year, usually through their annual golf club's subs.
Will be interested to see how the polls go

Mods: Just stickying this for a day to see if we can get to 100 responses. Thanks

Interesting findings that so many know that they pay and how much but have no clue as to what it goes on. I'm definitely in that category. I'm hoping a future edition of GM will shed some light on how our fees are invested.

Having lived a large portion of my life in Woodhall Spa and knowing people who work for the EGU, I know they do a good job, so I'm more than happy to pay it.

What I don't appreciate is when they advertise the annual subs and then add the union fees and "admin" fees on top.

My £350 subs next year are going to be more like £400 after all the extras that they add on top.

Knobs.

Personally I get nothing at all from the EGU so I would gladly miss out on this payment.I'm not one of those that enjoys paying out to benefit others.

I agree, why should I pay a subscription to Renfrewshire Golf Union? Quite frankly they do nothing for me and I fund the jollies of the County men's, youths and boys teams and their free shirts, jumpers and waterproofs!

What do I get in return?

A chance to play in the county championship every year and guess what, I have to pay for the privilege!

JOKE!

Appreciate that direct benefits are few but the EGU do a lot to support junior golf, they provide a lot of support to clubs on things such as legal advice (for instance the new equality law etc). There's a few more things too and at the end of day it is only about £5 a year so we can't expect too much at a personal level!

Certainly don't get picked you cheeky scallywag! You enter if you don't get balloted out then its stroke play qualifier then matchplay!

Enjoy your single ball at Machrihanish Dunes and Machrihanish! :)

That's a fantastic statement!!!! I take it you never visit the doctors, hospital, use roads, use the golf course. I could go on. Most things we pay for benefit others, lets face it without others paying their fee's we wouldn't have a golf course to benefit us.

Said 'no' to the increase in subs. I don't mind them getting a bigger slice, but they should be getting it out of the clubs' slice, not the members. Memberships are already too expensive for what you get in most cases.
