Hi
I’m looking to save money on gps and was thinking of using my iPhone. Has anyone else done this and what phone holder mount did you buy for your trolley?
Thanks

I got one off Amazon. It was cheap and did the job. Only trouble is iPhone batteries don’t last long at all when using one of the GPS apps. I’ve an iPhone 6 and I’m lucky if it lasted three holes with the GPS app on.

i have one from the bay, search mobile phone holder for bikes, and then you can fit it to the handle of your trolley.

as for GPS, tag golf or the motocaddy app are both good

I've an iPhone 12 pro now but I've been using GolfShot app with various iPhones (5 to XR) for a decade and while it drained half a battery on the iPhone 5 to use it for a full round I've never noticed any major battery drain on any of the more recent models (last six or seven years) - so much so that I don't even think about battery drain nowadays.

I've got a built in tray on my trolley with a lid - phone goes in there and is connected to my watch which gives me middle of the green distances - if I need distances to a hazard I'll grab my phone from the tray on way to my ball and have a glance at the app which gives loads of distances.

I don't think it's fair to blame iPhone batteries as a whole, it's more the fact your phone is 7 years old. ?

I'm sure you could buy a specialist golf phone cradle from a recognised golf brand. Or just buy a generic one off amazon for a quarter of the price.

I actually bought one made for a bike but the clamp fits on my trolley a treat! Don't currently use it as a GPS but VPAR works well to track my score as I hack it around.
