Pro am entry sheets came out last night for this year's pro am
Managed to get a team together within the hour
The guy I get lessons off has agreed to pair with us so that will be good. I mean he only holds the course record of -7
need some of that lad!
He also gives 2 of the team lessons aswell so I'm sure in front of him we will want to do the shots correctly lol

My mate, thats really been struggling with his game recently, playing really well today and shot a 75 (+8) off his 16HC.
Nice to see him enjoy his round for the first time in a while.
He didn’t go chasing the numerous risk and reward holes we have like he normally does, taking irons for position. Not surprising that he shot 10 better across those holes than he has been.
The big temptation is our 4th, its only 247 off the yellows, I learned ages ago to take an 8i off the tee and leave a wedge in from about 100. There is thick gorse left and a massive drop off with bunkers and trees on the right of the green. He always takes driver and ends up losing a ball or having to hack it out of trees or bunkers, averaging a 6 on that hole.
Today, iron off the tee, wedge on and two putt par. He was buzzing.

Caddied for my daughter in a junior competition this week.
One of the girls in the group hit her tee shot and it was all over the pin, pitched on the front of the green, tracked towards the hole and then dropped. The joy of seeing an 8 year old get a hole in one was both incredible and infectious.

Happy days. We have a Faldo Futures event coming to my club and looking forward to watching the kids have fun and play the course

This was at a Faldo Futures event.
They can be really good, although a lot comes down to the hosting club. Some put a lot of effort in to make it memorable, I'm trying to convince my own place to host one.
Our club are doing their best to make it a great day although it is their first time hosting so to some degree are doing it on the hoof. Plenty of helpers so hoping it ill be a great day

If it helps, things that made the better events standout:
- Someone to greet you when you arrive - I don't mean in the over the top American store variety, but just someone to show you where to go for registration etc...
- Adding club branded items to a welcome pack - the kids can grab a Faldo branded tees and pencils and get a Faldo branded sticker, but some clubs add in their own branded tees, logo ball, marker etc...
- Organised practice facilities, with free range balls for the kids to warm up.
- Providing a marshal to walk round with the group, this helped with knowing where to go, and with local rules etc...
- Thought gone into the tee boxes - both in terms of layout and in some cases, even mowing the tee box pattern in the fairway.
- Having food afterwards - this meant all the kids stuck around to eat, and so the presentation is well attended, otherwise you often only get the winners and runners up who qualify staying.
