Really not sure where to put these posts so this'll have to do ... Picked up my pass then met the player for practice round this morning
Pleased to be carrying for Oliver Lindell from Finland playing in his first full year on DPWT. Nice bloke. Practice went well, sun shining, hot but very windy. Went through loads of water to stay hydrated
We're first out in pro-am tomorrow morning and being an early riser this suits me fine and we'll miss the worst of the heat

Lucky to get a tour caddy pass rather than as local caddy since it has extra access, meals etc (y)

Said he wanted revenge for what Bryson did to him at the us open .. to which Bryson pointed out he did it himself so prob riled him a bit
Well it was Bryson's turn to bottle short putts last night whereas Rory's putter was on fire. PGA Tour boys in complete control from start to finish with Rory being the star of the show

Did you watch it? I forgot all about it. Didn't have much of a horse in the race anyway as I like Bryson and Scottie but dislike Rory and indifferent towards Brooks. I had a feeling Brooks wouldn't really bother bringing his best stuff since it wasn't a major and just another payday for him. Was I right?

I feel they should have had rahm and Bryson

However Rory was saying he had to keep on at the pga to let him play as he doesn't own his rights

That's utterly ridiculous

Brooks had a face like a smacked backside for most of the round - it did look like he didn't really want to be there. Might have been different had him and Bryson even remotely put up a fight.

It was quite a good watch (although the only way to watch it over here was an online stream); as there were obviously only four golfers, you saw every shot and got a decent bit of chat in between the holes in the carts. Charles Barkley was good value on comms as well, I had a few good chuckles to myself.

Rory looked like he was going to hole every putt he looked at. Scheffler was up to his usual antics inside about 160y. Bryson hit a few decent tee shots but putted really poorly and Brooks was also there.

My club’s Winter comps are all played off our forward (Yellow) tees, as do the roll ups for which rounds are counted towards handicap. However, we often move our tees quite a bit forward in Winter - both to make the loss of carry and roll-out less of an issue but also to avoid landing areas off the normal tees that can get very wet. Of course this has meant that the Winter Yellow tee course is too far short of its measurement for WHS acceptable purposes - and it makes things significantly easier off the tee for the higher handicappers.

Sooo…the club has had our Winter Yellows measured and assessed for WHS acceptability purposes. CR for Winter Yellow course drops by 1 to 69 vs par of 72, Slope drops from 125 to 117. What this means is my CR off the Winter Yellows drops 2 from 7 (Summer Yellow) to 5…I’ll find that tricky as I still tend to chuck a double or two into too many rounds.

Quite a bit of grumbling from higher guys as, say, the man off 26 loses three shots. And they don’t like that…so we are seeing many who are not playing a comp choosing to play off Whites (as Whites are often also a bit forward in Winter).

A good thing.

Some thoughts:
1. Brooks always looks like that. (Did you watch Full Swing?)
2. Imagine there must have been loads of adverts. I bet in the US they missed a few shots live because they were on ad breaks.
3. Did the viewers get to see the Charles Barkdley swing?
4. Sounds like a typical Rory performance outside of the majors. Underlining that he is the most talented golfer in the world.
5. Did anyone actually expect Brooks to perform well?

1. I did, but it seemed like Brooks had a lot on his mind during the filming of that, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He did laugh along and seem quite happy when chatting to the commentators in the earpiece, so I think it's just his face!

2. It wasn't really too bad. A short break of a couple of minutes between each hole, and occasionally a minute or so after the tee shot while they were in the carts. I was pleasantly surprised, having watched US sports coverage before and thinking it was awful. I didn't actually see any adverts, a TNT screen just came up and said "ad break, coverage will resume shortly," so I didn't have to put up with that noise.

3. No, only a couple of shots of "Chuck" and none of him swinging, unfortunately. A few jokes at his expense re. his weight, though. Personal favourites were when, upon seeing Rory eating a protein bar, he asked Rory how much he eats during a round, to which Rory responded, "not as much as you, Chuck!" and when Rory and Scottie were chatting about creatine, Chuck was saying he should try some, to which one of the other comms, think it was Bubba, said, "but how does it react with ozempic?"

4. Rory genuinely could have beaten the other two on his own

5. I don't know enough about Brooks to answer either way but he doesn't seem like an overly easy character to root for.

Brooks only turns it on for majors. He is (on numbers) the most decorated golfer of this generation. 5 majors. Rory has 4. It's been 10 years since Rory won a major in that time brooks won all 5 of his. He also went to liv, played "not competitive golf" as people say about liv and then came back to win his 5th major. The guy is a ruthless machine in the majors

That said he has resting bitch face and always looks like someone has walked on his line

I always think his face looks like he wishes he was a pro baseballer instead, but wasn't good enough and had to make do with golf instead.

2. Koepka started playing golf when he was 10 years old following a car crash that left him with facial injuries meant he was banned from playing contact sports.

Might explain a few things
