Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

Number of opens I've played in each of the past five years:

• 2021 11
• 2022 12
• 2023 18
• 2024 19
• 2025 21

It pleases me that each year is slightly more than the year before but I think the trend may come to an end in 2026. Can't see how I'm going to beat 21 unless I give up work or my wife leaves me!

Just had a sort out of the golf cupboard.

I've got 9 dozen boxed brand new golf balls in there, probably all bought on "special deals!"

I find more than I lose and I leave the rubbish ones where I find them.

New season resolution, "start using the new ones!"

Thank god I’m not alone
Did the same this week and had over 20 dozen brand new golf balls in my cupboard, some were like 3 dozen AD333 I got sent for taking out an insurance policy in 2020.

Spoke to the Pro Shop and they sold half of them for me, raising £200.00 for our Great North Run Charity 4Louis.

Far better than them sitting unused in the cupboard.

Starting the season off with “new ones” at Goswick tomorrow.

Mine have built up a bit purely because I haven't lost anywhere near as many as I expected to. I was planning to get through last year's Vice balls in winter, but I've only lost about 3 or 4 balls since December so I still have about 9 of them left. And I've already got three balls of Wilson Triads for the forthcoming year - just switched onto them since the weather is getting better. So I guess the Vice's can be next winter's ball as well.

I have had to take over shelving in the wardrobe in our spare room for balls. Got about 5 dozen balls to get though and that doesn’t include what I’ve got in the bag or the spare sleeves in the boot of the car

Another Senior Moment!!

Just looking at the golf calendar. I have entered two Opens at the same Club without realising! Worcester in both June and July.

Yes. they are SENIOR Opens (pairs and singles) before you ask.
