Do you have any golf superstitions, and more importantly do they work ? ;)

Only one i have is if i am playing well and have a good score going i will not take off any clothing, such as a jumper. Not worried about waterproofs, but if i start wearing a jumper i will always keep it on to the end of the round however hot i get. :D

I wont use left handed clubs, cos when I do I play sh1te! :D

:D

We did something similar to this last year and I was taken aback by the stuff people do.
How many tees, markers, left shoe first etc

Btw, I think your Fn key is stuck :D

never play drunk, it ruined my h/c when i was aroun 18/19. its amazing how falling into bed at 5 from a club can effect your 9am tee off.

on a serious note, if im wearing a jumper i HAVE to pull my sleaves up to around halfway up my fore-arms before i play a shot, even a putt

Superstition : 'belief in the existence or power of the supernatural, irrational fear of the unknown or mysterious'

I know a lot of pro's don't use a ball with the number 3, for fear of three putting. I have the same problem with the number 5. :D

Not really although I do only play with a ball that has Snelly scrawled on either side in big letters with a permenant blue pen...

I only carry one tee too I suppose but that is because that is what I need more than superstition.

Always have to start each round with a brand new set of clubs.........

....and wear at least one item of clothing that makes my opponents eyeballs bleed..... :D :D

I have to wear some form of headgear. Normally a cap but I can get away with a beanie (allegedly!) but there must be something on me bonce.
Got no hair so I've got to keep warm in winter and stop the reflections in summer.

I know a lot of people laugh at superstitions, but then read books on golf mind games. These books are trying to make golfers remain positive, not to get negative over bad shots ,think in the present, not get ahead of themselves etc.

If you have a superstition that makes you feel positive, that this is going to be your day, that nothing can go wrong, isn't that a great attitude to have on the course? Beats the negative golfer that we all know who is already moaning that it's not his or her day before teeing off the first.

I know a lot of pro golfers have their superstitions, and if they break them it must have a negative effect on them. Perhaps the effect of breaking one, is more detrimental than keeping to them ? Golf is such a mental game, more so at the top end of the game, that clutching at straws may not be such a bad idea.

:D

It's a weird one, but if some one says 'that's in' as my putt approaches the hole, it won't go in. It never does, and I get annoyed with my playing partners who put a jinx on it. All I ask is keep the old gob shut til the ball stops rolling. Not much to ask for. And you look an idiot when it doesn't drop.

I guess Im in for some trying times at forum meets now.

Richard you say about pma( positive mental attitude) a guy in our club turned up to play the final round of quite a big knock out comp against last years champ who had won all he's matches obviously. I asked how he thought he was going to do, he replied " I'm feeling good , I'm gonna destroy him"

He won 4&3

If I am putting well I will use the same coin to mark the ball and then pop it in my little tin for the next round. Usually a 5 p, and always mark tails side up.
I quite like a number 3 ball, won a couple of comps with 3 on the ball, was born on the 3rd so have some affinity with it, and 3 kids so maybe my lucky number.... lol
