Hi,

Need to buy some new golf shoes, any advice on what ones to look at as there are so many out there.

I am not good enough to wear flash ones yet.

Cheers

Probably most here will recommend Footjoy. I've got the older Aqualites and they're great. You'll not go far wrong with them

If you hunt hte internet now you should get some good bargains as the 2008 range will soon be superceded by the forthcoming range for next year. Personally I go for Footjoy purely because irrespective of the model they tend to fit perfectly first time out of the box and I have no problems breaking them in.

I do like some of the Adidas models but have had trouble with their sizes coming up rather small and being hard to break in. Some on here recommend buying an extra 1/2 size to fit. Others have had bad experiences with splitting and waterproofing but others on here swear by them so its horses for courses.

You could do worse than look at Hi Tec. Not the most fashionable kids on the block but they are pretty competitively priced and may suit your budget and not prick your fashion consciousness too much

Got to agree with Big Russ bought a pair of AQL's last month much better than the Nike's I had previously.

Worn them three times got a little blister on my heel first time I wore them for a round (they were fresh out of the box) nothing more since

Footjoy by far one of the top shoe brands on the market and at a fair price aswell, fail to see why you would go anywhere else.

I wear the footjoy dryjoy pods and can not complain, great fit straight away and they feel like slippers, the only concern would be that because they are narrow they are prone make you go over on your ankles on hilly courses, but barr that total great and sporty yet have a classic look.

Also anything ECCO are just as good, I bought some ECCO trainer/casual shoes a few months ago and I must say I have never worn as comfy shoe in my life, my step son wears ECCO golf shoes and he swears by them.

So anything Footjoy or Ecco you are laughing.

Remember though the amount of distance you walk in them its worth investing as much as the budget can stretch too, words of avice that have come true for me gained from this forum once again.

I've got the Adidas tour 360's 2 and the Tour ltd in black. Going to get the new 360's when i go to florida golfing in November. I found footjoy to narrow for my fat feet so get 9.5 wide fitting. I have had bad experience with them leeking but took them back to my pro within the warranty and they just sent me a new pair, GREAT SUCCESS!!

Tbh no matter what shoes you are wearing in the wet, once your trousers get wet your socks will follow and end up soaking your feet, unless you tuck you trousers in your socks and wear waterproofs over the top which I do.

I've several pairs of Footjoys, various models. And never had a problem with any of them. Never a blister or a sore foot.worth the few extra quid over a Hi-Tec any day of the week, yet still wont break the bank either. FootJoys also do half sizes & different widths too, so something for near enough everyone.

I had Footjoy AQL's, they were great at first, but found they started hurting around the 14th. Recently bought some Adidas Tour 360's when I was in the US on hols, they have been fantastic. Homer was right, need to size up on teh adidas ones though.

Wouldn't worry about whether they seem flashy or not, most important thing is comfort, since your going to be walking on a lot of mixed terrain in them for 4 hours at a time.....

Footjoy Greenjoys. Cheap, very easy to care for as they're not leather, waterproof, well have been for 18 months if you do look after them a little, and required no breaking in. But like clubs, balls etc, everyone is different.
I totally concur, Ive just bought myself a pair of black greenjoys (£40 for a slightly sporty looking cheapish shoe)for the winter season until I get a pair of myjoys around christmas which will stay boxed until the new season.
