Ive just bought a pair of Nike Lunar Golf shoes in green and white, they werent cheap so I,d like to protect them, what do folk recommend?

Seriously, golf shoes get battered. They just do. You can't do much to stop it.

Good quality leather cleaner, a pair of shoe trees and buy a second pair to give both pairs a chance to rest for longer. Let them dry out naturally by putting news paper in them and not drying them on a heater etc. Never leave old grass on them or on the soles as it keeps their water content up for longer.

Cheers I used to use Dubin on my football boots years ago so I'll treat them with that too.

I use Dubbin and work it especially into the seams.
I just apply it with a dust cloth the night before I play, keeps the shoes from cracking.
On my newer ones I use a bottle of liquid polish with the foam on the bottle and apply again always the night before.

In addition to giving them a good clean and using a good polish or shoe cream, the spray on Scotchguard protection seems to work quite well at preserving the look of my white Aqualites.

I know where you're coming from as I have the white and silver ones! First thing I do after finishing a round is give them a blast with the air compressor at the club (when it's working!) get rid of all the grass and mid from soles and uppers. Then wipe them down with some baby wipes. I've not polished them yet as was told by the pro it can hinder the breathable aspect of the shoe but he did recommend abit of dubin etc once in a while to protect the leather. I also heard that dubin can discolour them. I may try a bit of the liquid polish as mentioned above soon too. Also as said let them dry naturally and not on a heater/radiator etc. I'm not flush with cash so as much as I would like to have two pairs, especially the black/silver ones it's not going to happen!
Think most it has been covered but for me, the crucial thing is to dry them naturally and stuff them with paper to dry properly. I polish and dub them regularly but I guess having so many makes it easy to rotate them

I seem to remember that footjoy don't recommend polish or dubbin. Just a wipe clean and leave to dry naturally.

Proper care and attention is required to maintain and prolong the look, feel and comfort of leather golf shoes. Faced with a wide range of hazards, leather golf shoes must be thoroughly cleaned and properly stored between rounds in order to prolong the look and life of the shoes. We recommend rotating shoes between rounds - properly maintained the rotation of two pairs of shoes will last much longer than twice the life of a single pair.
Pre-Round Care
Use a shoe horn when putting on your golf shoes. This will protect the heel counter of the shoe-- damaging the heel counter can cause improper fit in the heel which can lead to blistering and overall discomfort
Post-Round Upper Cleaning and Care
- Clean leather or synthetic shoes after each round by removing dirt and residue using FootJoy shoe cleaner or mild soap and water.
- Allow to air dry at room temperature.
- White-based shoes can be cleaned by applying FootJoy white cleaner to remove unwanted scuff marks as well as conditioning the leather.
- Dark-based shoes should use a combination of FootJoy shoe cleaner and the applicable color shoe creme to maintain the look and conditioning of the full grain or calfskin leather.
- Nubuc Leather shoes should be treated with the FootJoy Nubuc Care kit which contains liquid cleaner and a brush. Apply the cleaner to remove any dirt or residue and then using the brush, brush suede/nubuc that is matted, shiny or dirty in the direction of the nap- once clean, brush against the direction of the nap to regenerate the original look and feel of the nubuc.
Post-Round Outsole Cleaning and Care
- All non-leather outsoles should be wiped clean of dirt and residue- check to ensure cleats are intact and secured tightly into their respective receptacles.

- Rotate your shoes: As mentioned above, we suggest you rotate at least two pair of golf shoes- rotating your shoes allows the material to recover and dry naturally thus preserving their comfort.
- Excessively Wet Shoes: If your shoes become soaked:
a) place crumpled newspaper inside for 8-10 hours to soak up all excess water.
b) remove newspaper and replace with FootJoy Cedar Shoe Trees. Cedar shoe trees will bring the uppers back to normal shape, smooth the linings and absorb any remaining water and odor. The absorption properties of cedar make them far more effective than plastic shoe trees.
c) we strongly recommend leaving Cedar shoe trees in your shoes at all times when shoes are not in use.
Do Not:
a) Do not dry your shoes using a blow-dryer or by putting them on a heater. This will only damage the leather.
b) Do not store your golf shoes in your car trunk, where high temperatures can break down shoe materials resulting in decreased lifespan of your shoes.
