Golf shafts - removing glue?

Any ideas chaps on the best household way of removing glue from a steel golf shaft? Just bought a new putter and having trouble getting the sticky glue reside off. Help please!?

Little bit of heat (over a hob??), then WD40 and then elbow grease!

If it's the sticky residue after you've taken the price tag off, then White Spirits should do the trick.

I'm think the above posters may be thinking it's the epoxy holding the head/ferrule on.

just boil kettle and slowly dowse with boiling water or just use white spirit

do what I do and leave price on for when you resell after 2 or 3 months
