Seems everytime I sit and watch a round of pro golf I am hit with a tirade of f bombs or other offensive swear words.

Lots of kids looking up to these guys as role models.

Is it because there are more mics on the course or are the professionals of today not the same character of gentleman as players of the past.?

There's no need for it.
These guys are getting paid huge money to play a game they love and if they hit a bad shot, they mostly have no one else to blame but themselves.
Sadly it's not limited to golf

But those are the ones I swear about as well. If I could genuinely blame someone else I'd be fine.

If you watched the PGA up to the very end you will have heard and seen Brooks Koepka's mate congratulating him by the 18th green with a string of f bombs. Ewan Murray had hardly finished apologising when the same bloke reappeared and with the camera a mike in Koepka's face repeated his performance.
I wasn't particularly bothered about the swearing but I did find myself wondering about his choice of friends.

If you guys want to see swearing, watch the Welcome to Wrexham series for Phil Parkinson's team talks.

Swearing doesn't bother me, they're just words. Have no idea why people would still be upset about that in this day and age. All words are just different collections of letters with different origins, yet at some point in history people decided that certain words shouldn't be spoken? Why? It baffles me. If you don't want to hear offensive words then stop being offended by them and they won't be offensive. They're just words without context.

These guys are competing for huge money and to win it requires them to be on the top of their game. It's hardly surprising that they swear.

I personally think the zero-tolerance policy on this forum is ridiculous, but there we go, and I think with this thread we've found the reason - too many people easily offended.
