Bought a set of Golf Pride grips from eBay and before I had received them a friend told me to beware of eBay as there are loads of fakes out there. They arrived today and look the part but how do I tell if they are fake or not?

fake ones ive seen in the past have been thinner and harder than the real ones and the colours a bit faded, only real option is to compare to a real one

I have the tour velvet grips just now, and purchased the multi compound blue and black ones, so don't have anything to compare them too. I think I might take them into AG and ask their opinion.

i'll post some pictures soon. Don't really want to post eBay link in case they really are genuine as wouldn't be fair to the seller.

I paid a lot less than if I were to buy from Gamola or Adore.

They look and feel legit to me. What do you guys think?

I think my mate has made me paranoid by telling me about all the fakes out there

i have knowingly bought a fake so i could see what they're like. they are so difficult to spot its unreal. they are the same weight and material.

to tell the difference you need to look down the grip directly into the opening. the thickness of the rubber is thinner at the opening.

i have it fitted to my practice club and as bad as it sounds it performs just like a normal one.

also, look at the sellers legal info. if its hong kong or China then they're likely to be fake

What do u mean it is thinner at the opening? I have a digital gauge, I could check the size. Do you know what size it should be?

the opening where the shaft goes in. the thickness of the rubber around the shaft at the entrance if that makes sense. i dont have a gauge reader so dont know. even though your old grips are not gp still see how thick the rubber is at the shaft end.
